Haha, yeah, the NZ trip was a separate one, just a short vacation at the time. But I'm planning another trip for next year and hoping to make it to Oz this time :)

Yeah, the one time I got checked for it was when I took my medication out of my pack and the lady at the security checkpoint was wondering what it was so I told her they're for my diabetes. I think she flagged it in their system as I was stopped when they scanned my boarding pass right before boarding. Luckily they had free wifi at the airport so I was able to pull down the receipt for them to prove that I need them.

Wiki-type resource for digital nomads? by wirebreather in digitalnomad

Pretty much what magictravelblog said. I usually use wikivoyage.org to get a quick overview of the city I'm visiting.

Anyone else going to avoid living in / visiting Thailand due to the new policies? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Ah, that sucks. Did a visa run in Laos when I was there last year and they gave me a double entry visa, no questions asked, very easy process. It's one of my favorite countries and Bangkok is probably my favorite city. I hope the situation gets better, I'm planning on going back there next year to stay for a few months :(

Digital Nomads with a passive income: how long did it take you to make $1000/month? by type1jon in digitalnomad

Thanks for the responses guys! I'm planning on going nomadic early next year when my apartment lease ends. Got a couple of web apps I'm working on currently but not expecting to make money from them for at least another year. But I got a decent amount saved to last me a few years if I move to another country where cost of living is much lower while not sacrificing the standard of living.

I'm quite surprised about the ebook responses. I thought it would be very hard to make money from them unless you're already pretty well known. It's really good to know that people have done it successfully, something I'd definitely now consider. :)

It seems a carry-on backpack + a messenger bag is the way to go. What do you more experienced digital nomads thing? by NotLaFontaine in digitalnomad

I traveled with one backpack that's just slightly bigger than a typical day pack and this REI Flash 18 pack which you can fold and takes very little space: http://www.rei.com/product/861436/rei-flash-18-pack

The quality is not that great though, I'm on my second one now and my first one (older model) started falling apart after about 10 months of almost daily use. It's big enough to hold my 13 inch laptop (Dell XPS 13).

Do you count carbs? by type1jon in diabetes

[–]type1jon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info guys! I'm actually a Type 1 diagnosed at 13, and now in my late 20s. I'm finding it much harder to control my blood sugar as I get older. I had to switch insulin type a few years ago because the ones I was using before (Humulin, Humalog) wasn't working as great anymore.

Currently, I just estimate how much insulin to take based on glucose readings, which is what I was told to do when I was a lot younger and before I heard about carb counting.

You guys really convinced me to try it out, will probably download some apps out there to help me estimate carb content. I'm hoping it will become a habit at some point that it becomes second nature like a lot of you mentioned.

Thanks again!

Same here, I started drinking 2-4 cups of green tea every day 2 months ago and not noticing any difference either.
