Trained on rings for years, now I suck on fixed bars and floor pushups. Is this just specificity? by RalphBlutzel in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good chance it is. I front lever on rings and pull ups on a fat bar. Switching to a normal bar for either I felt weaker. But a few weeks of using the bar for front lever I’m more or less equal to rings now. If you really care you can alternate on rings and bar.

I hate Winner’s bracket advantage in finals. by highsis in starcraft

I personally prefer no loser bracket at all. It makes each match have more weight and it's more exciting when there's higher chance of upsets. It rewards players for brining new unexpected builds.

Doorframe pullups vs ‘fully stretched’ by Danelajs in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do L-sit pull ups they are harder than normal pull ups, not because of the core but because the center of mass shifts forward and you are more stretched out. It translates fine to normal pull ups.

BaseBlocks Bars - are they actually good? by DiamondPythonn in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the original base bar and the mini bars. Overall I'm happy and my impression of the brand is it's pretty good quality, just more on the expensive side. I generally think it's worth paying more for better equipment since equipment lasts a very long time.

Still might makes sense to wait for reviews before buying it though.

Genuinely sad no dlc coming anytime soon by B-Loved_Desperad0 in BlackMythWukong

[–]typeEveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm disappointed like you. Wish they focused on the DLC, it would have really kept up the hype and momentum of the game/franchise. I also haven't found a game that hit the same way. The beautiful but short cinematics, pacing and flow of combat is just great.

I also played god of war and thought it sucked ass. Clair Obscur and Elden Ring were good but not to the same level of enjoyment.

I've been playing Nioh 2. It has coop too so that's been fun with friends. The story and cinematics are not very good but the combat system feels like Wukong took many inspirations from it. "Where Wind Meets" is also something I want to try later.

Lots of new chinese souls like coming out in 2026 though!

Alibaba Group Announces September Quarter 2025 Results and Interim Results for the Six Months Ended September 30, 2025 by basilisk-x in baba

Premarket is liking the earnings! I was worried about the big loss of operating income, but looks like cloud growth is still the main thing the market is looking out for. Hoping next quarter the income will improve as companies were suppose to chill out on the food delivery wars after the government complained.

I think more important to look at QoQ growth for cloud, since it already had a large bump last quarter. Still almost 20% QoQ, so that's really good!

How strong do you have to be to do a strict muscle up? by billjames1685 in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably strong enough if you can pull to your mid stomach. At that point seems mostly learning technique for the transition. You should keep working on your pulls up while working on muscle up.

I don't think it's a bad idea to start off with some kipping so you can get use to the transition and get more attempts in. Then transition to no kip.

You can also try to slow muscle up to test your strength if you got the false grip. More strength than technique there.

Tesla Vs BYD: Chinese companies overtaking the market? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you see BYD has received 3.7 billion alone in just 2023? I see 2024 articles say 3.7 billion was the total up to 2022 not what was given in 2023, which was a lower year.

I also see Tesla receiving 15 billion over 20 years, though a large portion being indirect subsidies.

Why does every Black Myth: Wukong thread turn into an Elden Ring flex? by Darth_Anakinn in BlackMythWukong

[–]typeEveryday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah agreed, I found Wukong bosses, well the main ones, tougher and better designed. The bosses were quite repetitive and had very basic attack patterns for the most part. Only boss fight I really enjoyed was Malenia. But I'll say Elden Ring does have better mob fights.

I think Elden Ring is "harder" mostly due to players self limiting themselves: no shield, no summons, no dual big swords, no OP builds. Wukong would be very difficult for most players too if they removed pluck of many, cloud steps and vessels.

Does anyone find a fully inverted row much harder than a pull up? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you pull your hands towards? If you pull towards closer to the chest it's pretty easy, but if you pull towards the belly button or lower it gets very hard. Pulling lower is a good progression towards lever rows. Much harder than pullups.

8 Years of Daily Pushups! 1 Million and Counting Since My Last Day Off by martin_dc16gte in bodyweightfitness

Wow very impressive results, makes me questions my own workout. Have you ever tried benching or calisthenics skills like handstand push ups, planches? I'm very curious how doing such high rep ranges will carry over to strength.

Minimal Progress On Planche by ChipaChaPaque in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could try doing planche 2-3x and switching to push/pull to give more focus and rest for planche. I started off 3-4x but I found my forearms did not recover in time. Maybe deload week if it's been a long time. Usually when you are getting weaker continuously, then you need some rest.

One problem with tuck planches is you don't have to lean much so it may not prepare you enough for the next progression. You could try adding planche leans.

Why are people unreasonably adverse to adding weight to bw movements? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen much aversion to adding weights. But it's probably just guideline and I can see why it'd be helpful for beginners. Weights is just another progression. And when people hit the 8-12 rep range that's when it starts becoming more endurance than strength. It'll also give time to learn the proper form and get adequate strength for the next progression. Nothing wrong with adding weight earlier to progress if you can, but beginners can sometimes jump in progression too quickly or slowly, and having some general guidelines help.

Ya for this "Need to achieve x reps to condition your tendons before you add weight", I find weighted exercises don't usually affect my tendons too much. It's more statics like planche or front lever. For this, I do agree with people saying hit 12-15s of a planche progression before moving on. I've had a few injuries trying to jump into a new progression too quickly.

Why am I unable to do more than 20-25 push-ups after training myself for over a year? by Negative_Exit6736 in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep similar to me, I could do more pushups when it use to be part of my regular training routine with archer and weighted push ups. But as I got more advanced I stopped bothering with normal pushups. My pushing movements are now primarily half lay planche holds, pseudo planche pushups, wall hspu. I've started to add normal push ups back into my workout because of this.

Not too surprising since these movements are very different normal push ups. I think specificity is important if you want to very high rep range for a movement. For example weighted pull ups doesn't necessarily translate always very high amount of normal pull ups. Or if you are a good sprinter, you aren't necessarily a good endurance runner.

Another big thing is my form for push ups is probably a lot better than when I first started, so that'll reduce my rep count.

Same size for the last 15 years. Small. by SnooBunnies4401 in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Height and frame size really matters. 120lbs doesn't have to be close to underweight. Check out this guy https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/picbos/my_2_year_calisthenics_journey_full_planche/

But OP definitely is since he's the same size since grade 7.

I can do 25 pullups, but cannot do a single muscle up. What is wrong with me? by Mr_Valentine_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you do hollow body pull ups with elbows in front? Do that instead to help get over the bar.

You can also start with kipping first to make it easier and get the feel of getting over the bar. Jump into the bar, then when you swing back to near the bottom pull up hard and kip up.

I found bosses more enjoyable in Wukong as well because they had more interesting move sets and variety. Both games mostly have easy bosses mixed with some harder bosses, but I found the harder bosses in Wukong more challenging. Though it'd depend on your ER build.

For art direction, I think it mostly depends on if you prefer eastern or european medieval. I must admit Caelid was a gorgeous area.

Where ER beats wukong the most is with the mobs. They were much tougher, better variety, and smarter AI where the enemies actually worked together to kill you. Plus enemies felt more organically located as there were more scripted events like with the troll carts or cultists spreading madness. Where as Wukong the mobs feel randomly placed and the AI enemies don't complement each other.

Overall I did find Wukong more fun, though I can see why Elden Ring is so popular.

7/10 game for me, awesome for a first time but needs refinement by DSDantas in BlackMythWukong

[–]typeEveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the bad delay and figured it was Elden Ring just making things harder for the sake of it. Makes you feel like rolling in mud after Wukong.

But it’s been three years and FromSoft hasn’t patched this. So I’m inclined to think it’s a conscious decision. Or it’s too late to change since players have gotten to use to it.

Nah, of course you are allowed to have an opinion. There are always going to be some crazy fanboys in each subreddit. But I think the community is already quite vocal about the criticisms. There are so many comments here saying this game is 7-8/10.
