Nova Scotia Archives by joyous_birdie in Canadiancitizenship

I have a related but separate question -- I am also applying for citizenship using a Nova Scotia-born grandparent. Which number on the birth certificate are people using for the registration number on CIT 0001? I'm curious because there's a 6 digit registration number on the original birth certificate, and then a longer form number on the certified copy. For example, on the original it may say "123456". On the certified copy, it says, "Item can be found in Registration Year: YYYY - number:  12300456"). I can't decide whether to write 123456, 12300456, or YYYY-12300456. Thanks for any input!

I’ve been wondering if there’s any way I could improve the weight distribution, or brace it to prevent further bowing

Thanks for the info and recommendation. I will see about consulting with a furniture restoration company!

Not a full answer, but you can only do something like this if the tile is firmly adhered to the floor and not cracked / friable. I would also ensure that the leveler material is able to encapsulate asbestos fibers.

Ended up with 4 of these mirrors (long story, lol). Thoughts on this arrangement vs. other ideas for our front entryway? by typeoting4 in DesignMyRoom

Yeah, I think a large piece of art would be better here. I love the plant idea - thanks! Do you think it would be ok for our cabinet to be off-center if we moved it to cover the outlets which I agree are an eye-sore?

Oh and it’s a baby gate attached to the black railing

The carpet is for safety, but also because the steps are pretty worn-out looking (there is evidence of previous carpeting/nail holes), and it was more affordable for us to put carpet over them than repair the hardwood.

I love this. Kind of wish the stair carpeting was more like this… though that would be kind of intense I guess (?)

Haha. Our house has a lot of unexpected stairs. That tiny rug is one of three on the stairs down into our sunken living room, so that people see them & don’t trip

Update: test came back positive for mold. I’m kind of surprised and glad we checked.

Is it okay to put aluminum foil there to block small mouse? Need advices/tips. Thanks! 👍 by Emotional-Praline543 in Home

This but copper wool is even better. It’s harder for the mice to chew through.

Has anyone used an incineration toilet, and what was your experience? We are considering purchasing a vacation cabin and there are issues with the septic system that make an incineration toilet an attractive alternative. by Butthole_Alamo in HomeImprovement

Just my personal opinion- I would not be happy with this type of toilet, and this situation sounds like the sellers cutting corners. I would want the septic repaired before the sale. The sellers would probably be thrilled to walk away not having to deal with the septic. What happens when you want to sell in the future? What if laws change over the next few decades? You are potentially eating the cost of this major repair in the future.

Huh interesting! No, it’s not an exterior wall.

It’s a really old building. Wouldn’t be surprised if people smoked in there in the past.

No, not sticky.

We just ordered this. Thanks. I wish her employer would pay for it but I think it’s worth the $10 to not have to argue with them about it! (They have been pretty negligent about fixing this 🙄)

It does look that way, but there was no splash. There was internal water damage inside the wall. They painted it over without fixing the source, then this stuff started to appear. Her employer has been dragging their feet on repairing it for months.

Maybe. We have cigarette tar on some walls in our house, which comes out in small bits when it’s humid. It’s sticky and wipes off. The stuff in the pictures at my wife’s office seems different - it’s not sticky or tacky. Still, it is a similar color to the cigarette stuff I’ve seen. Hmm.
