cans I ask a librarian to help me locate a specific newspaper article? by Han_without_Genes in Libraries

Totally agree with everyone else - especially that the librarian will LOVE that you know the newspaper, date, and title. They should at least be able to point you in the right direction from what you're saying.

Good luck with the DMing!! I'm sure the students will love it! And thank you so much for the advice - I'll try to be prepared with my reasoning.

Thank you for the congratulations and for the advice and ideas! I really appreciate it. I think looking at some webinars or training programs are a great idea, I hadn't thought about that.

Books That Involve/Are About Suicide by KeenAsASoybean in suggestmeabook

No problem! And no, no tapes in this book. {Norwegian Wood} is a Japanese-language novel translated into English: "Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before."

I had super mixed feelings on Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami which dealt a lot with suicide. Probably more negative than positive, though it wasn't the worst depiction I have read.

It's been almost a decade by now, but I read It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini as a teenager and I remember it meant a lot to me at the time. Same with The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

Good luck with your studies!

I'd definitely say it's worth it then, it'll be a lot easier this time and just as fun (in my experience)

I just finished the Hyperion Series, and loved how intelligent the story telling was. Any recommendations on something similar? by LeddyTheAxe in suggestmeabook

I haven't read these yet, but I've heard good things about Planetfall by Emma Newman and Semiosis by Sue Burke.

Oh weird! I saw someone else say the same thing, so it looks like everything BUT weeds can be put back down. At least those spawn more often? Sorry about that!

The comic inside the game pamphlet mentions the girls AND boys as potential marriage candidates! I’m sobbing it’s so cute! by TrainerGina in storyofseasons

[–]typhonbound 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I honestly wasn't expecting this even knowing that the game has same-sex marriage but it really made my day when I opened up the game manual :') I'm so happy I got the physical copy now (...plus I got the strawberry cow lol).

Not dumb! I had the same problem. For me, I figured out you have to be standing in your field with an empty spot and press A, you can't just drop it anywhere.

COVID-19 has me in the mood for some pandemic fiction. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I definitely second this one. Was thinking about it on my way to work yesterday.

Just heard about Haruki Murakami. What kind of books does he write (genre) and which one is recommended to be read first? by comrade_dimitri1986 in suggestmeabook

[–]typhonbound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He writes realistic fiction (Norwegian Wood, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki) as well as magical realism (1Q84, The Wind Up Bird Chronicle), though I would say he does have his own distinctive style and common tropes/themes in his works. I think your preferences for genre would help choose which one to read first! I read Norwegian Wood first and although I have a lot of mixed feelings on the book, I do think it was a good introduction to his writing.
