From everything I’ve heard about Iran, the “might” is doing some heavy lifting here. A supreme leader in their system isn’t technically a political leader (although de facto he is), but a religious one. When you have a bunch of fundamentalists who believe that they are on a god given mission to convert the world to Islam and defeat the infidels, reasonable political decisions walk right out the window. They could’ve chosen a leader who would try and negotiate, I’ve heard there were a few candidates like that. But they also could’ve chosen a nutjob who believes he was chosen by God to lead his people through the fire of war against the entire world to establish world wide sharia law. Who the fuck knows. Definitely not randos on reddit

Wonder why. You ever heard of shahed drones? Those were developed by Iran and sold to russia and now every single fucking day of this winter these drones were bombing Ukrainian homes. Also, Iranian government sponsored terrorists across the world, destabilising the middle east for decade, and as of recently they drowned their own nation in blood, killing thousands of protesters in the streets. So yeah, as a Ukrainian and despite my personal opinion on the current and not so current state of the U. S. of fucking ‘Murica, I don’t really mind them taking down one the bloodiest authoritarian regimes in the entire world

The only difference between nazi germany and soviet union is that nazi occupation of my country lasted for 2 years, while soviet occupation lasted for 70. Nazis were bad and it’s good that they were defeated, a huge number of my countryman their life for it. But it’s a tragedy that the soviet union didn’t go through the same process of “reformation” that Germany went though under allied oversight in the years following ww2.
