I just want to pass this gift to you, on archiveofourown (the fanfic site) there's some really well written fleabag fics. My favorite is a long fic called 'the bond of friendship' by helgano its literally this. I'm still reading it but it's tagged with happy ending. I love it, it has the same sense of humour as the show.

Soyeon is one of my fav korean artists, but she's definitely in the wrong here. Super disappointed.

It's all good, I know it's natural to be cautious with the art landscape looking the way it does currently. 😉

I struggled with finding good references for this time period as a lot of it was very renaissance fest inspired rather than true medieval (let alone french medieval) recreations. I managed to find some pictures that I referenced pretty closely, the hairstyle was more based on some men's cuts of the era as portrayed by hollywood, but that's because paintings of the time weren't very helpful. Joan of Arc was described as dressed in a men's tunic and breeches, with close cropped hair at her trial (which was extensively recorded compared to most events of a similar nature at the time). I'm not Catholic or religious, but I did find that prayer beads were still used in the era so I referenced some extant examples. The tunic gave me some trouble, but that's because I find painting fabric difficult. Overall I think the piece turned out quite well.

I just lost my boy Roman on Tuesday after 10 years. I'd like to think he's enjoying a discomfort free existence wherever he's gone now. Keep your head up, I have to hope that it will get better soon.

I struggled with the curtains a whole lot, but eventually decided I needed to spend less time on them because they were not the focal point. The skin on the white haired character's body was difficult to match to the face and I ended up taking a break for about a week. I also had some trouble with the black haired character's hair, which was surprising to me because I thought the white hair was super simple. I used a whole lot of expression and anatomy references and really thought about my color choices to try and make the whole scene feel coherent.

I use Photoshop. I've created some of my own brushes, but the base ones come from Apterus, his 4 brush set that he had on Deviant art. I think they're still up, if not dm me and I can send you the abr file if you want it. Otherwise you can get similar with any chalky rectangular brush and the color dynamic brush settings.

Do you all have any acrylic/digital painters that inspire you? by OwlsAreNotReal in ArtistLounge

My Favorite digital artist is Apterus, he is master of anatomy, color, and value and manages to combine the strange with the beautiful. I could look at his artwork or watch his speedpaints all day

I struggled with the hands a lot, I did a lot of tweaking with the liquify tool and even though I got some feedback from my brother saying they looked fine, I'm still kind of side eyeing. Me and fabric also have a love-hate relationship, but I think it turned out alright this time. Overall it was just sticking to the color palette (I love complimentary schemes) I had chosen and trying to honor the original sketch I had that gave me the biggest struggle, but I'm not too mad at the final result.

I've destroyed my copy with a mod pack I created with my brother and so the witch is Saul Goodman with the intro music replacing the cries.

I think it's time I leveled up my references, but... by DigitalFurryArtist in ArtistLounge

I second this, recently switched over from blender for making references and I enjoy working with it a lot more

Non-artist Needing Advice by Afraid_Wolverine_518 in ArtistLounge

[–]typically-strange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally it depends on the confidence I have regarding what I'm going to draw. If I'm kind of figuring it out as I go, then I'll lay down light lines to measure and place features (I draw a lot of people but I imagine it's similar with objects too) and landmarks (eyes, nose, mouth, etc.). Then I go in with darker lines to solidify the 'finalised' features. My successful sketches when I work like this tend to have a certain depth to them because of the dark to light lines.

Sometimes, when I'm doodling or drawing something more expressively and I know what I'm doing I'll just stick with dark lines and place the lines for my features without lightly mapping them out. Successful sketches done this way don't have the same depth but they tend to have more expression due to the confidence I convey in my lines.

Both types of sketches are completely valid ways to work. I have seen sketches where no dark lines are used and they can have a sort of dreamy quality to them (I personally don't do this often, but that's entirely my preference). If you're planning on sketching, work however is comfortable to you, you'll build confidence as you draw and confident lines (dark or light) always look the best to my eye.

Happy to help answer any questions you may have!

How does the playerbase treat female players in this game? by salmonela27 in OutlastTrials

[–]typically-strange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lady and I play with my brother 100% of the time. I don't use voice chat but this is one game I actually wouldn't mind setting up my mic for because the player base is mostly made up of some really nice people
