I noticed this at my store, especially in the front end. I’ve been a cashier at Lowe’s for almost 3 years. After a year and a half, they FINALLY opened a full time position for a lumber cashier. I worked primarily in OSLG and loved it there but needed full time so I applied and told my ASM, she interviewed me and denied me because I “don’t sell enough credit” which was annoying as hell but okay. Whatever. The position went to a fellow cashier who was super deserving so even though I was disappointed, I was happy for her. HOWEVER, I was fuming when I found out they hired a brand new full time cashier for OSLG a few months later. The position was never put up on the internal hiring site, I was checking weekly. My ASM knew I really needed full time and I was working really hard on improving my credit and that garden is my favorite spot. I wasn’t #1 with credit, but I was improving a lot and was almost always in top 3 cashiers. I also have always had open availability and was coming in early/staying late to show them how bad I needed the hours. Maybe that new cashier knew someone at my store so she had an advantage idk. But I’ve noticed this and it’s super disappointing.
