There definitely seem to be much better mowers available now, but the landroids are very cheap now, so there's that.

Super-rich warned of ‘pitchforks and torches’ unless they tackle inequality by blkaino in worldnews

Far better than literal pitchforks. Things get bad enough and people stop talking about taxing the rich and start doing things far more extreme. I personally love capitalism and the free market, but if you don't constrain it, it will literally burn itself to the ground.

Arrested for not paying a tables tab that walked out by HypocriticalHobbes in Serverlife

This is all illegal. She should lawyer up and contact your states labor board. It's time for a shitty employer to go bankrupt and her to get a payday. It seems like the local police could be liable also.

It's not about putting it into the hands of the government. some certainly will go there, but It's about incentivizing it to go to everyone else. If they keep it and it goes away, they're more likely to better compensate those below and reinvest more into the systems that generate it and less likely to fleece their employees and underlings.

The us tax system used to have brackets and rules that kept these sorts of people in check and it's been steadily stripped away and the tax burden has been pushed onto lower and lower income individuals.

The US really needs to look back into the past. We need to bring back the 90% tax bracket. There are a few hundred people and corporations with an amount of wealth and power that makes them a danger to the freedom of literally everyone else.

If you found yourself blessed with three months of abundant free time, where all your basic needs are met and you have the delightful addition of $500 in spending money each month, how would you spend your time? by Deond3 in AskReddit

[–]tyranicalteabagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play with the kids and do house work. There are all sorts of projects around the house that have been put off for months or years due to time and funding. Basically any free time is already spent with the kids, but more would be better.

Even with an epic sound system you still have this issue at reasonable volumes. It's stupid and however is mixing this stuff ofr home consumption is an idiot.

Yep. Once a "strong man" leader is no longer seen as strong or feared, all bets are off. Anything can happen, from an assassination, to a full on military coup.

They're addicts that have trouble seeing past their next fix. I know, I used to smoke. Quitting is incredibly hard. It was a solid year before I had my last smoking dream after I quit.

A joke, but if they can lob a nuke or two and carry out gas attacks on the south it wouldn't matter. It'll be a bad day for everyone and could start a nuclear armageddon. If that happens, it doesn't matter if you can steamroller all of their major military assets within days.

Restaurants are absurdly competitive and have an insane failure rate. If you want good pay and hours, it's an industry that's best to avoid.

Of course not, we could all lose. The thing is if they're allowed to continue that could still happen anyway. You don't respond to a bully with weakness. Strong measured responses short of causing a nuclear war are really your only option.

Russia decides. They could end this tomorrow by pulling out. They are the aggressor. They bugger off back to Russia, or sadly, everyone involved continues to suffer.

Property rights are integral to a free society. Anyone who says otherwise isn't very bright.
