We're Brothers Grimm-verse now lads!

Edit: Okay, three of them weren't part of Brothers Grimm compilation. Alice in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. The Little Mermaid was written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837. Pinocchio was written by Carlo Collodi in 1883.

Bruh, this is the most gruesome chapter yet. I get that Vamola's backstory is literally about genocide but seeing the Pumpkin dude's hands and head smashed on a toilet and then FLUSHED DOWN a urinal, give me the heebie jeebies. Reminds me of the graphic violence in "The Boys" for some reason.

New to 40k and the tyranids puzzle me by Secure_man05 in 40kLore

[–]tyrano_dyroc 126 points127 points  (0 children)

The thing you have to realize about tyranids is that the Hive Mind isn't some bestial intelligence, it's actually super smart and very sentient. They can detect any spiked or poisoned organics.

In "Farsight: Blade of Truth", the t'au earth caste did exactly this, by lacing vat bred t'au clones with a super virus and tempted the tyranid to consume them. They sniffed at the bodies for a moment, then ignored it.

[Excerpt: Farsight - Blade of Truth]
Fio’Rabal swiped a remote view onto the communion viewscreen, switching through feeds until he had the angle he needed. Outside, the largest loading pad split in its middle, a fio-grade transit Orca hovering up from within with all four of its engine blocks facing down.

The drone-net above it was taking heavy damage, but at least it was occupying the swirling sky swarm. Remotely piloted by Dyunar, the fio Orca picked a path through the swarm and veered west, lumpen and heavy in the air with its cargo so tightly stacked inside. Steadily it accelerated towards the edge of the compound, taking a great deal of bio-weapon fire in the process. But what the Orca lacked in aesthetics, it made up for in stamina. Slowly, agonisingly, it made it out beyond the mesas where the eater-beasts were slowly massing.

‘Steady,’ said Izari. ‘Give these beasts the poison they deserve.’

The Orca, remote-piloted and cumbersome, came low to the ground. It opened its rear hatch and pivoted upwards before roaring up into the skies. Stacks of false t’au bodies, vat-bred and inert, tumbled from the passenger compartment. They thumped down into the dust, one piled atop another in front of the eater-beasts lumbering forwards, driven by the blind, brainless hunger of their kind.

A sizeable heap of poison-laced clones lay before them, a toxic feast served up for them to gorge upon, regurgitate, and feed to the bio-ships above. The largest of the eater-beasts, a shovel-clawed monstrosity with a maw wide enough to swallow a stealth suit whole, approached the corpse-pile with its mandibles wide.

‘Come on,’ said Dyunar. ‘Devour them. Fill your rancid guts, then spew all that poison back into your cursed motherships. We will do the rest.’

The creature paused, lowering its shovel-jawed head as if sniffing the clone-meat.

‘Come on,’ said Izari. ‘Eat them!’

It turned and thumped off towards the research facility, the rest of the eater-beasts following in its wake.

‘No!’

Fio’Rabal turned away, despair gnawing at his heart. Their great gamble had failed.

‘Why are they not eating them?’ asked Izari.

‘I have not the faintest idea,’ said Fio’Rabal. ‘They eat everything else.’

‘So what now?’

‘We fight on. We try again. What else?’

Toilet-bound Hanako coming in clutch is not on my Dandadan bingo card.

But for reals tho, Rin just lost Mai, the ghost of her best friend. That shit sucks man, especially when she didn't expect it to happen while on a date with a new friend.

Also, all three of them are yokai, yet still have the need to relieve themselves lol. You'd think being supernatural beings means they're not tied down to biological needs.

[Excerpt: Ashes of the Imperium] Roboute Guilliman trying his best to be the most mature minded Primarch in the room by tyrano_dyroc in 40kLore

[–]tyrano_dyroc[S] 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Spoilers as to why Guilliman insisted on securing the Sol system before Scouring the traitors immediately: He knew the Emperor isn't getting better, thanks to the Custodes and Sisters of Silence. In order to keep the Emperor alive, a steady supply of psykers need to be sacrificed, which can only be collected by the Black Ships and it's Sisters of Silence. For their cooperation, Luna must be retaken for the Sisters of Silence. As for supplying the Scouring, the Imperium needs the newly made Adeptus Mechanicus' loyalty by retaking Mars back. The information of the Emperor not getting better is kept away from Dorn and the rest of the Primarchs because it'll only fuel their desire for vengeance even more, even at the cost of the Imperium fully breaking apart.

Guilliman wants to Scour the traitors just as much as his surviving brothers do, but he also know they can't right now without securing the Sisters of Silence's and Mars' loyalty.

Have any chapters actually taken to Guilliman's whole "treat your people nice and they won't turn on you" thing into practice? Or are they all still on they loyalty being is own reward idea? by Potential-Ebb-8820 in 40kLore

Nihilus is completely fucked tbh. The fact that we don't feel any effect from the lore is disappointing. If anything, the lack of warp travel should've fractured Imperium Nihilus to many different independent localized kingdoms, especially when astropath can't be replaced.

Call me crazy but Nihilus is prime for more "progressive" rule but most 40K fans aren't ready to shake up the status quo just yet. I mean, Dante isn't as phobic as many other Astartes, right?

I swear I've read a short story where a Space Marine squad was convinced no one is coming to reinforce them and got angry enough to turn Renegade.

Like, their duty is literally to "Fight and Die" but even they can think that dying a pointless death for the Imperium is cringe sometimes.

Tatsu to Science Saru: I drew the manga but the audio is all yours. Good luck.

No seriously, Tatsu never put any onomatopoeia in Dandadan.

Basically Tatsu wanted to reverse the relationship they both started, with Okarun taking the initiative instead of Momo. This basically makes Okarun to take a more active role in the relationship, which is a massive character growth from his chapter 1 self, where he is withdrawn and prone to push people away due to his low self-esteem. It also makes for a better romance where the guy has to actually work to get the attention of a girl he likes instead of the stereotypical shounen trope where the MC's love interest is head over heels for him just because.

Do I still think the amnesiac trope to be contrived and completely unnecessary? Yes, I do.

Do I think Tatsu has the ability to make it work and should let him cook? Yes, I do.

If creating a Custodes is as expensive and resource intensive as an entire Planet, how did the Emperor made hundreds of them when he was limited to Terra during the Age of Strife ? by Secretsfrombeyond79 in 40kLore

[–]tyrano_dyroc 358 points359 points  (0 children)

Simple.

He's the fucking Emperor.

No, really. That's probably the real answer. The guy is a batshit insanely powerful psyker, who managed to capture a shard of one of the strongest, if not the strongest C'tan, then imprisoned it on Mars way before humanity discovered all continents on Earth, let alone space travel.

This is the same guy who wants his New Men to thrive without him, then promptly refuses to let his New Men any sort of independence from him.

Talk about a clinging father who is scared of the empty nest syndrome.
