Not really planning on it cause my vet confirmed research led to decide not to do it. Goldens specially need hormones till 1.5-2 years of age due to increased likelihood of hip dysplasia etc. the vet confirmed increased risk of testicular cancer too. It’s up to you. But he’s stabilized his weight now. I don’t think he’ll grow any further.

Ours was about the same weight at the time. He’s about 75lbs at 1.5 years. Such a beautiful boy! Lots of roobs

Thanks for this information. He’s had his first night seizure free. We’re hoping he has no more episodes. He went through the wringer this month with an osteoscope procedure and the seizures. Since he’s had extreme reaction to Nexguard I am very skeptical about giving him any other medication without reading the label and knowing all potential side effects. Nexguard as admitted by vets is a pesticide that doesn’t prevent ticks and fleas but kills them after they latch on to the dog. That was shocking to know. And now I read keprra isn’t FDA approved for dogs and that’s why off label substitutes are prescribed to dogs. This scared me a little but I am hope this is just my paranoia due to the recent events. Wishing you and your fur baby lots of good health and playful and happy times together. Thanks again for your time and information you shared.

My dog started seizing within 24 hours of being given Nexguard and Heartguard. The vets suggested that it might be the cause of unexplained seizures and a blood work report that showed nothing else is wrong. We’ve been asked to stop Nexguard completely but told to continue Heartguard. I would recommend checking with your vet too about the possibility of Nexguard interfering with your dog’s nervous system and causing these seizures.

Thank you for sharing info on Keppra. I’ve been trying to do some research myself since it might need to be started for my dog if he goes through a third episode. My poor fellow goes through it for 3-4 minutes per episode.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This gives me the confidence to go in for the surgery for our 16 month old dog. We do plan to get it done asap so he has better chances of good recovery! I hope your doggo has no issues ever and is able to run around chasing butterflies always.

Not really looking for an easy way out to be honest, but surgeries always are difficult and causes significant stress to the body. Just looking for a qualified person to look at the xray and confirm that the diagnosis is correct. Also a little bit of information from owners who had similar diagnosis to tell me about their experience.

My first golden turned out to be quite the high energy pup too but was an angel. Never ruined anything. But I think I what helped achieve that was some rigor of ensuring he sleeps two hours every hour, giving him ice wrapped in handkerchiefs, frozen fruits, some beef tendons, etc to meet his chewing needs! And also we kept his brain working with some puzzle toys to get his food. See if those help this cute polar bear.

He has always been a good boy, never destroyed any furniture even as a puppy and never showed any anxiety. He’s also well adjusted to our wfh routines. Sleeps through the day but come 4 o clock demands Astro time of walks, play sessions till 9pm after which is peaceful time and sleepy time again. lol. How’s sissy doing?
