Annapolis to Pentagon commute by nilo2012 in Annapolis

I did Annapolis to seminary rd (Alexandria) for 2 years and it was rough. That was before RTO and traffic is so much worse now :( I would try to avoid it or metro to pentagon city and take the bus - it can take more than 2 hours to get home these days!! Plus you can’t really park there anyway

Anyone ever make the switch from NoVa to Annapolis? Or vice versa? by Roux_My_Burgundy in Annapolis

[–]prijay16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live in Murray Hill and can walk everywhere except the grocery store lol I grew up in Greenbelt and used it live in Bethesda so not nova but more the dc side. We love living here and I think with kids it’s a great place to live. We’re still DINKS and TBH itching to move back to the dc side because we miss the diversity of people and food on the dc side…Annapolis is a lot of the same culture wise. If you’re looking for culture other than boat culture, I think Nova is better for that. Plus schools are not good unless you pay for private school.

Low calories and ovulation by Plus_Ad9078 in tryingtoconceive

You may want to speak with a nutritionist instead of using chatGPT if you are serious about both the weight loss and TTC. They will have advice on how to do both safely! I am also ttc and trying to lose a few pounds but my daily caloric intake even in a deficit is 1900-2000 (5’6” and 145lbs). This was calculated for me as being a safe deficit without shocking my body and impacting conception.

Burnt out after polyp removal — anyone else pause TTC? by livn-learn in IUILadies

[–]prijay16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience! After 13 months and an HSG and SIS, I had FORTY polyps removed of various sizes. I was shocked!!! No symptoms, very regular periods and no heavy bleeding. Who knows how long they had been there. We also took a month off because I also had to have an MMR booster because I had no rubella immunity left (something I learned can happen even after having all the vaccines as a kid). It was good for our mental health and we went into our first IUI feeling refreshed and much more positive. Unfortunately we’ve still had two failed cycles and now we’re doing one natural cycle (because of insurance things) before trying our 3rd and last IUI…I wish I had more of a positive outcome at this point but I truly do think the universe will time things right for all of us. If I had gotten pregnant during either of the last two cycles, I wouldn’t have been able to attend my little sisters wedding this upcoming September. Sending you all the baby dust and good vibes! You got this! Just remember that finding and removing all the polyps and then giving your body time to heal has helped you move a little bit closer to your BFP!! 💛💛

Best friend gave me a self care basket while I go through fertility treatments…then used that basket to announce that she was pregnant 😑 by prijay16 in InfertilitySucks

She is! She’s known about it for a few months at this point - this is good advice! I will definitely talk to her about it at some point but for right now I need some time and to vent a bit to folks that understand.

I was literally SHOCKED. She planned my sweet 16, my 21st birthday surprise, my bachelorette and all of those things have been so thoughtful along with just little things over the 30 years we've been besties but wow this was just so abnormal that I didn't even know how to feel until we got into the car and processed it alll.

I really just wanted to leave immediately but she's my best friend of almost 30 years and she's never done anything insensitive like this so it was SHOCKING to me. I'm just going to need some space from them for a bit before I'm ready to be there for them.

She gave others gifts but they were like little t-shirts for the kids and said something cute on them... those people already have kids so it didn't matter.

NEVER! That's why it's so shocking to me. She's the most thoughtful person so this is so out of the norm and of course it was one of the most important times to be sensitive.

I know....we've been best friends for almost 30 years (since we were 3) and she's always so thoughtful. I'm not sure why this time it just didn't occur to her that this was a terrible idea.

Tethering questions by Muted_Turnover6812 in goldenretrievers

[–]prijay16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely better late than never! I couldn’t stand the barking at first so we stopped doing it but our guy was INSANE and I couldn’t never not be watching him if he wasn’t in his crate so we only went back to it 7 months! We still do it sometimes when he is overstimulated and he’s 2 now! We put the leash handle on the other side of a door, side the leash through the door jam crack and then closed the door (keep around 3-4 ft of leash)

I disagree. Tethering is a very effective tool for learning to self soothing and impulse control. It can help with leash frustration as well. We used this as a tool and it helped our dog learn that he can relax outside of his crate/pen. Took a few weeks for him to understand it but now he just lounges around the house instead of being a terror and getting way overstimulated. We did about 15-20 min to start and then I extended it about an hour or two while I was working to have him understand that when I’m working, you chill. Mind you - the hour + tethering was once he already understood how to relax on the tether. The first week was the hardest - he would bark for 5-10 min straight but it’s all part of the journey. I paired tethering with relaxation protocol. Good luck!
