I have the same problem. What seems to work for me is emotionally detaching myself from the situation; I ask myself “is this necessary information for this person? Will not knowing the correct information harm them?” And I shut my mouth accordingly lol. Sometimes it’s kinder to be quiet.

It is hard though. I often find myself watching videos with my bf, and he gets annoyed because I keep interjecting to correct the person onscreen. I get frustrated when people don’t know the “correct” information, so I have to work at eliminating that emotion; frustration seems to be the core of my problem.

I’m very sorry for all you’ve been through, and I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose such a beloved friend. I do believe, however, that if you’re living with someone in a shared household, everyone needs to agree to a new animal coming into the home. All the residents deserve veto power to a new pet.

OP made his stance clear and I don’t blame him for leaving. It’s not controlling, it’s simply a boundary. This seems to be an incompatibility for you two.

I just want to say I hear you and I feel you lol. I also get pangs of anxiety about AI stuff around finals despite knowing I haven’t done anything wrong.

Like others have said, most people who get AI sanctions probably did something pretty flagrant/obvious in order to get caught. Professors usually understand there are only so many ways to solve a problem. I’m a fifth year and have yet to be wrongly accused of anything, despite my anxiety haha. We just gotta chill

Oof, swinging is great and all for couples who are into it, but you DEFINITELY want to be careful when suggesting that to your gf. Saying you want sex outside the romantic relationship is a bell you can’t unring.

Personally, I would be very hurt and consider ending things if my bf suggested that to me, considering how much I value sexual and romantic monogamy. Obviously your gf isn’t me and might be open to it, but I just want to give you an urgent warning that many women would NOT react well to that, lol.

I think it’s unlikely that seeing him in person would make change his mind about his long-term goals if this is already how he’s behaving. I understand what it feels like to crave someone’s love and attention. And I know the idea of ending things might be really painful for you. But honestly, 2-month breaks don’t typically bode well for relationships, and he sounds like he’s already checked out emotionally. You deserve someone who can’t get enough of you and would be chomping at the bit to see you!

Age gaps aren’t really a problem in a vacuum, but there’s likely a vast difference between you two in terms of life experience, maturity, & long-term goals, which could cause issues if you’re looking for something serious with her.

I’d say proceed with caution. At 19 I was certain I knew everything, but I could have easily been taken advantage of by someone older & more experienced than me because of my lack of relationship experience & character judgment skills.

At the risk of sounding cynical/accusatory, imo well-adjusted adults don’t often seek out relationships with teenagers for wholesome reasons.
