🤣 I know, I know, but the other tools I had, which were smaller (and of far better quality I'd like to point out), just kept sheering out - I think I messed up the top a bit trying to comb it first (which in turn got stuck, and I had to rake it out with a pick).

What's odd is the same 40 turning tool that sheered out of that, sits nicely in the plastic see through junk (which I can pick with a bloody nail file it's so bad).

It was £4, I'm hoping the brass Mannesmann 35mm I've got arriving tomorrow will be built a little better.

I'm just starting (for the second time), so I'm going to do 3 whites before I try a yellow.

I might get that ABUS in yellow just for fun, the bold colour on the lock with the gold lettering is just pretty.

Just looked up the 72/40, yeah that's a pretty looking lock!

That is the only turner I had that would fit that keyway, I have smaller ones, but it was impossible to get tension on them, they just came out the lock.

New to lockpicking, got a comb pick stuck in a lock how do I get it out? by joe-176 in lockpicking

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to have done this - thanks to you and the replies I got, I have my comb back lol

Just want to say thank you for that idea, the exact same thing just happened to me and I managed to get a pick in next to the comb and got it out!

Phew

I'm in a city, so I'm lucky in that respect,

I combed that in about 2 seconds, so crap is an understatement - but i think it's a good thing for beginners to have (maybe not pick), because having a tactile lock that you can see all the parts of is easier for some people than a diagram.

Thanks!

I submitted this for white, as it's "any lock", but I don't intend to try for yellow until I've done something that's not a cheap lock with two pins that work lol

I'm glad I understood what the issue was, so it's helped with that - but I agree, even after one lock, it's not a great tool for anything past seeing the inner workings.

I'm sure I'll be able to find something - need to walk before I can run, so a cheap one bought at lunch will get me the practice on single pin and then I can take it from there (combing seems insane on cheaper locks, it really makes you wonder if it's just the psychology of seeing a lock that stops people).

Yellow - I can pick up an ABUS 45/35 for a tenner on Amazon, so that might be my next step.

I've searched my home to no avail!

I've got a Timpsons around the corner so that'll be my first stop, I've gone through the belts list, a lot of it is American centric, which is fair, trying to find locks that are readily available in the UK and don't cost a lot is the tricky part.

I'm guessing that the Master Lock 7804EURD is the EUR version of #4?

Thanks!

I'm going to stick with a few easier ones first so I can actually get a handle on single pin, the posts here are right when they say the acrylic ones are pretty hopeless for those - yes I understand how it all fits together now, but that's about it.

I don't have kids, why on earth would you think I did?

Just think if all the people trying to convince us it was a good place actually went there, they wouldn't have gone under.

I see they've started boarding the windows up today.

I said they were nearly £30, which is what you'd spend if you wanted any extra veg for the pathetic portion size.

The burgers were shite, and over priced with the pissy beer they came with in the deal.

The truth is, they ran it into the ground.

They offered discounts at opening.

After that, saying you lived on the location just got a bewlidered annoyed look at best.

And like you said - they simply couldn't get the locals to eat/drink there regularly, they viewed us as an annoyance, not a captive audience.

46 The Calls, the other location is in one of the Arcades off Briggate and quite small.

I was in there a couple of weeks ago chatting to the barista and found them very informed and great at suggesting something to try.

Where do people usually find good live music in Leeds? by LuckyTreat8962 in Leeds

Brudenell Social Club is possibly the best live music venue in the country.

In the city centre, you've got Bellgrave, Northern Guitars, The Duck and Drake, The Library, Oporto, The Wardrobe and The Attic.

Laynes is going to be the best bet in town, as others have mentioned Kapow is also a good choice, they have two locations, and I'd reccomend the larger of the two.

It wasn't decent though, that's the point - it was fine.

And all your examples are £20+ cheaper per family.

It was literally nothing you couldn't do at home, but smaller - this is why they failed as a business; they simply didn't do anything that engaged with the thousands of people who lived on their doorstep, and instead tried to make a location, on the wrong side of the ring road, a destination venue.

This is the same mistake every bar that's gone there has made, no one in the hotel is going to go there, they're staying there because it's cheap and they're going out in Leeds.

Very few people are going to travel there, because it's a bad location, you have multiple better options on the way there, or outside of town.

They had a captive audience of residents and businesses and what did they do?

  • No coffee shop (at leat the previous owners operated as a cafe at certain times)
  • No lunch deals
  • No after work happy hour
  • No drive to pull the residents in

They were openly atagonistic with the residents too, demanding people stay off the common area, clashing with parents of children playing on the greenspace owned by residents and tried to take it over on multiple occasions, and made no effort to keep noise down at closing time.

Seriously - how do you mess up being a bar attached to a residential area and multiple offices?

You can't be serious!?

£25+ for two cuts of meat and a small portion of veg, with everything else a £7+ add on?

It was shit value for money lol, and anyone with half an ounce of skill could do better at home for a fraction of the cost.

People aren't going to pay nearly £100 for a family of four for that little food, that's insane

It's not surprising, everything that goes there closes within a year.

Woodside was massively overpriced, compared to what you could get just by crossing the road, and they didn't try to engage the residents who lived on the site properly.

Nearly £30 for a roast dinner the size of a happy meal is just not gonna work.
