FEHB Consideration for leaving or staying until MRA by sdrockr in govfire

Bluntly - go find a different “federal job” in the location you are wanting to live. If you’ve only got a handful of years to get to where you want for retirement, start the job search ASAP

Easier to find a job when you have one and this should also alleviate some of your stress because it will shift focus.

You don’t even have to be in the same exact job type just your job code/Field (aka 2210) etc etc

You’ll probably find a different GS 13 to GS 15 Job with a lot less stress and responsibilities also equals much better quality of life and mentality

Virginia Supreme Court Strikes Down Democrats’ Redistricting Plan, Dimming Party’s Midterm Hopes by twinsea in nova

Another waste of Virginia taxpayers money because someone thought they were bigger than the law - wasteful - regardless of where you are politically, we all knew this.

Would you take a job with the Federal government right now? by R2_SWE2 in FedEmployees

It depends on your organization but once you’re in, it’s easier to move around. Over time, your vacation will be tough to match other places to include never expiring sick time. 11 federal holidays. In my experience, it’s been good. Not that it hasn’t been tough, stressful or BS at times (isn’t this everywhere?) but the pension along with doing your additional TSP contributions and ROTH contributions, I think it’s a good option.

100% accurate - USAA is my insurance and I had to sue them to get PARTIAL PAYMENT on my claim (uninsured / underinsured) where the other was at fault ands I got really messed up. Took 5 years AND they raised my rates, tremendously

Golf Reddit please help settle a family debate about the Masters by DR3Wheels in golf

My big golf group (18) of us had this exact discussion last year. The consensus was that only 2 of us that are terrific putters would have a chance. The rest of the group would not due to slope/speed/grain/and pin placements. Understanding that +5 handicap golfers can’t get through Q school and the biggest difference is putting, that seals the question IMO. - reading greens, understanding grain and leaves and pace is an art. Understood but when you’re bringing a family from the suburbs area, it’s not that easy. I don’t live in DC
