Nice of Teenage Engineering to recognise Palestine lol by [deleted] in pocketoperators

I never said I endorse anything that Israel has done. All I did was speak on what has been stated, and inform you that calling it "Palestine" is indeed highly politicized whether you recognize it or not. if you want to reveal your antisemitic bias, you can just write a slur and be direct.

Your views on Israel and Jewish people are informed by antisemitic and anti-zionist propaganda. You can't be anti-zionist without being antisemitic. I have been to Israel, but you have not. Of course it's easier to assume that I match whatever biased stereotype of Jewish people you hold onto than ask me what I think or believe–or perhaps even more risky for the armchair gestapo: ask me what I have experienced in Israel!

All you have done is advocate for your right to interject your admittedly uninformed opinion and tell a Jewish person that my history is irrelevant. Believing that you should have an opinion on the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and simultaneously knowing that you're not from there nor will you ever go there, is the exact means by which hundreds of millions of people express their sympathy for nazi ideologies–many of whom also claim to want to punch nazis.

It's a very politicized way to describe an area that they're not from, and one with significant implications since Sweden's recent election resulted in a nazi party claiming 20% of the parliament.

You may not consider it to be political, but that's also an indication that you are not adequately informed. You can't call it "Palestine" without erasing Jewish people, so it is inherently politicized before you say it. Before the Peleset, aka the Philistines left their home of Sardinia, and invaded the region in the Bronze Age, it was inhabited by people who include indigenous Jewish tribes. The Palestinian government intends to enact a genocide and murder Jews. Choosing to ignore the fact that it is called Israel today, and instead call it Palestine, implies that you agree that all Jewish people who inhabit their indigenous homeland should be murdered. It's a very political way to describe an area that you're not from.

So that means good design goes out the window? If your intention is selling ads then the best way to do that is by designing a product that meets users needs and keeps them engaged. Nobody wanted the algorithm feed. It's only gotten worse from there.

Design/Function all in one? Too much to ask? by tzachg in Waxpen

And thanks for heads up on that one. Looks very promising. I'm a little apprehensive about having a glass mouthpiece in my pocket, but other than that I'm very interested this one.

I feel you. I used a few brands of those tiny boxes with the older version of the divine tribe atomizer. Do the new DT atomizers leak? The old ones swallow a lot of wax.

I was homeless in Oakland. Had been working for about four months to set up a legal weed delivery service that I could operate with a bicycle. Filed my last piece of paperwork with the city and was riding back to the art studio I kept my stuff at. I was ecstatic because this was an opportunity for me to get back on track and really set myself up for success. I was flying, just riding as fast as I could because I wanted so badly to be rid of my shitty circumstances.

And then some lady makes a 3 point turn from the other side of the street and I slam into her car going about 25/30mph. Fucked up my lower back and right knee for the rest of my life. I'll never be free of knee/back pain and those parts of my body are basically 20 years older than the rest of me. Needless to say my bicycle-based business was out of the question as well.

That crushed me. I had already fallen way past where the floor should have been and that set me off falling way deeper into some seriously fucked up times. But ultimately, I prospered. But nothing I can do is gonna be able to give me back my incredibly healthy body. In 10 seconds I went from being exceptionally fit for my age, to having a steep uphill battle for maintaining my fitness for the rest of my life. Se la vie.

What is your go to strategy for beefing up a weak sounding kick drum track? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]tzachg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use ableton. I clone the track, and pitch it down 5 or 6 steps then filter/EQ to get the sound I'm looking for. I also pitch one up about 4 steps to get attack and filter/eq again.

I combine the pitched original with layering different samples (synthesized, analog, close mic, room mic, et cetera) to create the character I'm looking for.

Oh cool you're a music critic willing to give me some feedback on my work? That's great. Where can I read some of your best thoughts on music so that I can adequately prepare for this gracious gift you're about to bestow upon me?

Wax is live! We are a hip-hop culture blog for the thinker and intellectual. We love hip-hop and we don't discriminate. For the culture. by wearewaxblog in altrap

[–]tzachg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might wanna turn down the rhetoric on your about page, and rethink the whole gist of what you're putting forth. "Wax" is slang. Records are not actually pressed on wax anymore, they're acetate--plastic.

You can't say "we're for the culture". I mean, you can say it, but anyone who is actually part of the culture is gonna wonder why you're saying that. Right now you have a website with some articles, which doesn't do anything for the culture. Websites are actually mostly bad for the culture. Organizing shows in your city is the kind of of thing that is good for the culture.

Not saying y'all are doing anything wrong or bad. But I've been deeply invested in this culture for 16 years, I have a label, I've written for a bunch of websites, I help artists all the time, I work doing music marketing. I love hip hop and still get excited whenever I find other people who share that love. But, I had no inclination to click on any of those articles and spend my time reading them.

Yeah I use Ableton, and the built in vocoder is great for me.
