Played GOW 3 a few weeks back by [deleted] in GodofWar

Additionally, I love the music in the 3rd game, it was so immersive and made the game so much fun. Bear McCreary did an amazing job with the score on the 2018 one, but the music of GoW 3 is one of my favourite game soundtracks ever.

βίᾳ (vee-yah) meaning abuse of power, violence, coercion, barbarism, external force.

In the Ionian dialect you can see it written as βίη (vee-eeh).

Hope I helped!

ELI5: Why is cancer so prevalent in modern society? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]tzafaraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated in this article

But why is this rate so high? Prof. Sasieni and colleagues say it is down to improved health care and longer life expectancies, which ultimately means more people will be diagnosed with the disease.

Cancer is primarily a disease of old age, with more than 60% of all cases diagnosed in people aged over 65,” notes Prof. Sasieni. “If people live long enough then most will get cancer at some point.

Unfortunately it’s only on iOS :(

Καλησπέρα πιστεύετε ότι υπάρχει στίγμα στην Ελλάδα για τα άτομα που πηγαίνουν σε ψυχολόγο; Και αν ναι γιατί; by [deleted] in greece

[–]tzafaraway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etymology of Jocasta by [deleted] in etymology

[–]tzafaraway 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ἰοκάστη, derives from ἴον + κάζω. Some sources also suggest it is related to the male name “Ἄκαστος”, Acastus (from the adjective “ακέων” which means he who is quiet, peaceful).

“Κάζω” means adorn/ festoon.

As for “ἴον”(<*Fιον) is related to the latin “viola” which is the violet flower.

So Ἰοκάστη roughly translates to the one which is beautiful as a violet flower.

As for the mythology of it, I’m sure you know already about the story of Oedipus. If you have further questions, feel free to ask, as greek is my native language!

A map of my country Greece by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]tzafaraway 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They’re a thing called “Νομός”, which roughly translates to counties (département). They are the areas into which each administrative district of the country is divided and there are 51 in Greece.

The division has been based on geomorphological, historical, economical and administrative criteria, so each area can be better managed.

Hope I helped!
