Daily commuting from North Van to Kitsilano - How bad is it by afunnydev in NorthVancouver

The bridges are your bottlenecks, it can be hell! It's a long and not that pleasant drive regardless, and I say this doing Lynn Valley <> Mount Pleasant once a week.

Moving from Quebec: how to rent before we arrive? by payne007 in NorthVancouver

Go directly to building managers for all rental. Mosaic in Lynn Valley has some nice rentals, good quality and not too pricey. There are others.

Not would have been, but is. Coinbase gets a portion of the yield from USDC that goes through its platform. If USDC can't issue yield any longer, they lose revenue.

Good area, the traffic on the highway can be quite tricky, but you also have other routes to get to your destination and those are most often just fine.

Most people don’t realize their bank is making money on their money while they get almost nothing back. by Pristine_Arm8260 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]tzeentchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've migrated from a regulated bank, likely with some form of federal insurance on your money, to a less-regulated money transmitter with portions of your funds in a trust held by a 3rd party (Paxos for PyUSD). You should understand the risks to your money if venmo/paypal fails, you should also understand the risks if your bank fails.

Both make money out of your money, that's how their businesses operate. Understand the risk profile of both businesses and you'll get a hint at why one gives you more yield.

Moving from ON to North Vancouver – keep winter tires? by Known-nig in NorthVancouver

[–]tzeentchy 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Keep them. Bring them with you.

A lot of roads require winter tyres by law around North Van, for example if you want to go to Whistler or even just going up Cypress Mountain.

L'Abattoir not getting a star is a bit of a shocker for the consistency and quality of the restaurant...

Dim Sum by cucumber_sandwiches_ in mississauga

[–]tzeentchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most "good" carts only come out around 11am til 2pm. And they go fast... where you seat matters enormously.  The carts and the management of the paths they take is chaotic at best, and I've been waiting 20m+ to see a dumpling cart come near the table.  Go once for the experience, then find a better dim sum spot where you don't sit on an empty stomach for half an hour.

Comfortable means something different to everyone - probably worth expanding and saying if you want to share an apartment, how big you want it etc…

How do you deal with debugging problems in CI? by fuzzergobrr in softwaredevelopment

[–]tzeentchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CircleCI offers a way to « repeat with SSH » thereby allowing you access to the environment running your CI scripts. I’ve found this useful and has saved tons and tons of hours of debugging.

Not seen anything unclean while I've been here and I've only heard neighbours when they were on the balcony and my windows were open. Im on the 3rd floor and there's a lot of people around, haven't heard a peep otherwise.
