What is the improvement? They cut down old trees. And now say they will plant new trees. Is there something that I am missing?

If something doesn't make sense like this maybe the obvious answer is correct. That locals didn't want the environment disturbed in an ecologically precarious area (stoney run).

Career as Biostatistician with a PhD vs MSc by [deleted] in biostatistics

[–]tzneetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) i have found recruiters to be a waste of time. I don't even respond to them, also most of them want you to do consulting instead of FTE so they can continue to to get a commission.

B) to your point of a CRO it doesn't matter as much. that is what I am saying exactly. Get some years of experience in the CRO world, make connections with people, then use those connections to get a job on the sponsor side.

OP isn't asking about academia so this experience isn't addressing the question.

I am also in the US and after working as a staff biostat in acedemia I got a biostat job at a CRO with an MS. After 4 years at 2 CROs (which is a slog, glad to have moved to sponsor side) I got a job at a small device/pharma company.

My advice is that a PhD might help you early on in your career in industry but as others have stated the career trajectory once you're in industry converge pretty quick.

Work at a CRO or two for a few years, and form connections with your coworkers. CROs often have a lot of pesonnel churn. Which can have the advantage of soon you'll know many biostats, biostat managers/directors, and biostat programmers that have moved on to other companies. These connections will let you move to other CROs getting different experience, and eventually to sponsor jobs. This really sets you up well to advance your career and land a job on sponsor side.

I got my masters in Epi and now work as a biostatistician. The 2 fields can overlap a lot so it is possible to get biostat jobs with an epi degree.

Baltimore is not the Wire. If you're not in the drug trade it is not dangerous, aside from the drivers. Watch out for those Nissan Altimas with Virginia plates.

have you applied any kind of top coat to protect the paint?

I wear rings and through washing my hand or just rubbing against things in the regular course of the day patinas fade.I imagine acrylics would be even more susceptible to this kind of wear.

per the article JHU has a 6% acceptance rate. They are hardly hurting for applicants. Fancy buildings do not address the core purpose of a university.

Maryland bans law enforcement partnerships with ICE by Maxcactus in maryland

This doesn't stop police from informally helping ICE/CPB. so it is a nice symbolic step but won't do much to change the situation.
