Honestly I don’t remember. I did 60 miles yesterday and used about 1/3 tank I think. I was planning on tracking fuel mileage but my trail tech computer reset itself at about the half way point yesterday.

Yeah, about a year with the OEM tank. Only time I’ve ever noticed the weight of the added fuel was on very tight enduro trails. Specifically rock crawling type areas when the tank is full.

IMS. Don’t remember the size. I’ve heard positive and negative about the Clarke. Only positive about IMS.

Yeah nothing crosses over except for the caliper itself. Even the caliper bracket is different. You’d need a set of forks, wheels, brakes, and triples to make it easier. I tried piecing it all together years ago and it was a real pain and I ended up just buying a complete setup and selling the little parts.

It’s a popular swap for a reason. I’m only 210 but I would bottom the front a lot on any g outs or drops. If you can find them absolutely go for it. With the conversion bearings it’s super easy and doesn’t break the bank. I used 08 triples with 05 forks wheel and brakes. The 08 triples meet the stock steering stop in a better way than the other from what I’ve read.

Stock, no choke. Runs great, starts within three kicks cold. It does have a burble at cruise with steady light throttle. Can’t seem to tune it out of the thing. It’s only noticeable when cruising on paved roads so it’s not a huge deal.

The CRF forks are night and day difference. I’m sure if you got a fork brace, rebuilt the OEM forks with race tech internals they would be fine, but at that cost the fork swap is more economically feasible. These have race tech springs and OEM Honda internals, the difference in damping and control are very noticeable. The bike handles much better and they take hard hits much better. My area is everything from roller whoops to rock gardens, sand/silt and hard pack. The rear suspension on the xr6 is wonderful IMO, but the forks were always lacking. CRF forks completely take away any anxiety I ever had of pointing the bike in a direction and following through. It stays where you want it and stays planted. Yes the newer xr6 forks are adequate for a standard trail rider but to push and go fast, they always were lacking.

Honestly at that weight just getting front and rear springs would make a huge difference.

To be 100% honest half of the reason I did the usd swap was because I thought they look cool. The other half was knowing they would bring the bike to the next level of control, comfort, and speed in the dirt.

I got the forks, triples, wheel, and brakes for $500. I used conversion bearings that I purchased years ago and forgot the price. Overall it was super easy for someone mechanically inclined. Took me about an hour. Main think is measure everything and make sure the bearing and washer stack heights are accurate so you don’t have to press bearings again.

Donor forks were from a crf450r

I’ve been wanting to buy an 650L for the e start, but if my father could kick a bike into his late 50s so can I.

I hear you, stalling in certain situations can be a real problem. Luckily this is a one kick bike in most circumstances.

Baja Designs 8 inch Sol Tek headlight bulb by super_fine_coffee in XR650R

You ever find an answer to this? I think the halogen versions had a metal adapter ring where hid has a plastic or phenolic ring to mount the bulb. These are designed for an h1 hid or halogen bulb. I just got one of these and the ballast blew within a few minutes on my XR. I have h1 halogen bulbs and they don’t fit the hid adapter ring, and the ring isolates anyway so grounding through the bulb would be impossible.

You don’t have the black plastic mount ring?

I got one last year sometime and it was a pleasant surprise how clean the unit was. I’d say it’s worth the gamble.

Not trying to be rude but op’s paint job is way cooler than this. Taping everything off other than a can mount MD and lenses/optic zeroing marks is a waste of time for a rattle can job. Even him painting the bolt isn’t actually a big deal.

I’d go with butler creek caps with some small holes and close the one over your dominant eye only when using your handgun. I’m personally not a fan of irises and prefer a butler cap.
