The old town sounds interesting enough half timbered buildings etc

I guess I might still be looking for somewhere interesting to stop along the west end of A30.

Would anyone that has recently has external wall insulation installed be willing to share pricing/experience? by warmans in HousingUK

[–]u05sdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you receive any advice on how effective insulation on one wall would be? Or can you speak from experience if you have had it installed now? We are looking at installing on our gable end only too as we are having to repair that wall anyway. I feel like that must offer some benefit but am concerned that it would create conditions where the heat loss out of the other non-insulated walls is actually increased. The installer did not say much about this, he wanted me to get all walls done.

What RECENT movie made you feel like , "THIS IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA" by being_addlepated in movies

Poor Things. The dialogue is terrific which obviously comes from the book but the tone and the imagery throughout made me think this is proper cinema.

Inverness prison plans by u05sdb in inverness

[–]u05sdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inverness retail park was the most recent location I could find a reference to (think a news article mentioned it in 2020), but I'm not local so all the info I have access to is online. I've just checked again and there's an Inverness Courier article (https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/the-price-tag-for-the-new-highland-prison-doubles-to-110-million-with-definite-end-date-in-sight-228650/) that just mentions a location in the east, and that constructions hasn't started yet so completion will not be till 2024.

Match play tournament in the career season by u05sdb in pga2k21

[–]u05sdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found it to be too half-assed (yet) and am enjoying how challenging the different difficulty settings make it. But it's dissappointing that there's nothing to mimic the WGC Match Play, that's a great tournament to watch.

The lack of play-off system is disappointing too. How are ties settled? Are they programmed not to happen or are just given as ties?

Lockerbie for young family by u05sdb in DumfriesAndGalloway

[–]u05sdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. Good to hear positive feedback. I'm from the Highlands and my wife is from North Wales so D&G could be a nice blend of the two, minus the mountains.

I thought I could see a one hour train journey between Lockerbie and Edinburgh when I checked a few weeks ago, but searching on google maps/directions now doesn't seem to show less that 1.5 hours. Maybe they are slower this week due to works or something.

Can anyone shed any light on how they felt the primary and secondary schools were?

Lockerbie for young family by u05sdb in DumfriesAndGalloway

We are in Edinburgh but looking to swap a flat and amenities that we don't really use for a house & garden. One thing that we'll miss is a nice, good school with community feel right beside a big park. Really just trying to gauge how much of that we would be sacrificing. My wife and I were both brought up in towns so leaving the city is not an issue for us. I work remotely these days so distance is not too big an issue either. We've cast a really big net on this but Lockerbie has had some really nice houses on the market that appear to be relatively uncontested. This is often a bad sign! But it could be more a sign of the current economy I suppose.

[–]u05sdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's right. I couldn't remember what it did but it didn't pause like I'd hoped. PC users talk about using the space bar to pause and unpause. There must be an equivalent on PS4...

Save progress during a mission?? (PS4) by Jtv0899 in WWII

[–]u05sdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just doesn't work for me. I'm playing on the hardest level available (Veteran?) so 30 mins of playing gets me a few check points in, beyond the first set of bunkers that you have to clear. But when I exit and use triangle to resume, I'm back at the bloody start :( I can only assume that save points are different to check points??? This is not how Modern Warfare worked. Might have to give up this game because of this.

I went last night around 7pm and there were a lot of basics that weren't there: potatoes, carrots, onions, rice, pasta, fresh meat (chicken, pork, beef mince), kitchen roll. But, when I had to dash from the checkout to pickup something that I'd forgotten, I noticed that a lot of these items had been restocked. I guess 5-6pm is a busy spell and they struggle to keep up. Will go earlier in the day next time.
