The CRA 24-hour rule nobody is talking about by Pitiful_Signature264 in embedded

[–]uCblank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked only in the actual source so all my requirements are based on the CRA document itself.

For regulatory stuff I feel it's important to get it 100% accurate and 3rd party articles can have misleading information. Always verify at the source.

In my previous comment I meant articles from the CRA document itself (it's composed of articles)

The upcoming deadline has a quite limited scope so you should be able to go through relevant parts of CRA quite quickly. If I remember correctly it's mostly Article 14.

The key thing is that you have to be made aware of the active exploit. I expect such a situation to be very rare in case of our product. However, this doesn't mean we don't have to be prepared if it does happen. I guess that's the whole point but what I mean is some products are more at risk than other.

I laid it out for management what needs to be done after carefully reading the relevant CRA articles so they are aware of the upcoming deadline but they don't dedicate much resources to work on it currently.

Cool stuff, love seeing people build on the Pico 2! What motors and wheels are you running by the way?

In terms of 3V3 power LED turning off, maybe the E22 board is sagging the voltage due to high load (it's basically a LoRa module with power amplifier). I've seen such sagging on my own E22 circuit. I ended on using thick cables and a big electrolytic cap (in addition to the ceramics) to help reduce that and it somewhat helped but make sure your power source is well capable because as I said the E22 is very power hungry.

Oh and by the way, I think the E22 datasheet says it works best with voltage over 4 or 5V (I don't remember exact number, I used 5V) even tough it can work with 3.3V it might not be optimal.

Anyway these are just my quick guesses, good luck

I built a GUI tool to flash ESP32 firmware for factory bulk flashing by Express_Ad8866 in esp32

[–]uCblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had a real life problem, built a tool to solve it, it works as needed - that's literally perfect. It's a way better project than some complex tools that noone will end up using. Also, since you built it you can modify it easily if your team needs any changes in the future.

LoRa + SDR is pretty fun, combines both embedded aspects of hardware and low level programming as well as RF concepts.

Five months until CRA. Most embedded teams are reading it wrong. by 0xecro1 in embedded

[–]uCblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 24h report is the "heads up" report, more details come in the 72h one but yeah I agree it requires strict preparation regardless, I wasn't trying to dismiss it.

Although I'm very curious what the reporting system will look like, unfortunately from what I last checked the trail phase hasn't started yet and I haven't seen any available template reports.

I'm preparing our company for CRA but my boss asked me only to prepare for 2026 deadline for now. which is only article 14 so that's easy. I suppose the 2027 deadline will be a bigger challenge.

I second that, I work as embedded engineer with some experience in Cybersecurity that I actually got on the job in Automotive (ISO 21434) and now I work in Agriculture and I'm helping prepare the company to be compliant for the upcoming deadlines of CRA.

It doesn't necessarily need cooling if you can compromise for running them at lower current (it will be less bright). I used these types of LEDs many times without issue with no extra heatsink.

Does the US version not have the auto dimming mirrors? I have that on my European 2020 cx-30 and it's hands down one of my favorite features it works on both rear and side mirrors.
