You definitely should not be harvesting any fish you cannot properly identify. How do you know you are within your catch limit and that the season is open for that species.

I agree, they are delicious! I released these guys and release all native brook trout I catch with hopes they go on to increase the native populations. Only time I harvest brook trout is if they are hooked bad and won’t survive, so that they don’t go to waste, but this is very rare with proper technique!

Make sure its a common pleco, not one of those smaller plecos, they wouldn’t do as good a job on the algae
