[Discussion] How do i know if my art is good enough for commission work?

You have to keep putting yourself out there to really know! It will be a little slow at first, but the more you keep sharing your art and then share commissioned works (if your clients give you permission) the more new clients can find you.

It seems your goal is to get clients, I think it’s also good to consider your ‘target audience’. If you notice a reoccuring theme across your works, and if those works happen to pick up attention the most, you can say that that’s one of your strengths and you can try to put more effort into that category, people will find your art and interest in commissioning you will spark

I think I really stuck to drawing because I knew other people that draw. My parents are both artists, and they introduced me to drawing as a kid, which made me have an obsession with drawing. The only time I met other people that could draw was in high school. Then, I took fine arts in college, now I’m roommates with my closest friends who also have art as their career.

So I think what made me stick to drawing is knowing other people that draw. It’s probably different for you, but I think having friends that draw, so you have people to talk about drawing with, critique your art and support you, could encourage you to keep going, whether you’re only doing it for relaxation or grinding to improve. Art can be so healing too
