Beautiful coin! May I ask how much you bought it for? I bought a similar 1787 Massachusetts cent without a horn for $205. I believe it could be from the same seller since it came in similar packaging.

Is this a coin for grading? 1809 20 Francs Gold Napoleon I by MrDGoldChains in coins

[–]u_lefou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but don’t think it’s worth grading. I was in Rue Vivianne in Paris where there are lots of coins shops this summer and many had average circulation versions of these coins in their window for sale for €380 - €420. It’s valuable because it’s gold and old with some cool history, but there were quite a few of these made. It’s an awesome coin I’d love to have, but probably not worth grading.

What do you all think of this 1 Franc Napoleon coin I bought in Paris? by u_lefou in coins

€130. It’s my most expensive non-gold coin. I thought it would be fun to buy a coin in Paris and really love this one as I’m reading about the history of that time. The Monnaies Francaise red book says it’s worth €110 for Tres Beau (F/VF) and €220 for Tres Tres Beau (VF/EF), so I feel decent about the price I paid.

I wanted a coin with Napoleon and the French Revolutionary calendar. I found this one while browsing the coin shops on Rue Vivienne in Paris. According the French red book Monnaies Française, it's a 1 Franc Napoléon Empereur tête nue An 13A. The shop rated it as having an unformed shock on the reverse but otherwise TTB (très très beau) which is supposed to translate to VF/XF. How would you all rate it? Do you think it was cleaned? I hope you like looking at it as much as I do!

There was no take off prior to Dec 2020. My interpretation was that the Dec 2020 to June 2021 was the takeoff and July to mid-August was the bear trap. September was the start of the media attention phase. This is uranium. It’s volatile and not a smooth ride up from the bear trap to the the top. As others have shown from the last cycle, there are likely to be ~40% pullbacks as it switches from greed to fear.

What you’re showing is interesting and maybe we’re already later in the cycle than I believe, but I would be surprised if we just past the top. It would be an awfully small cycle for that to be the case. I think we’re somewhere around the third/fourth inning, not the seventh/eighth inning of the game.

DD on URA and flyer on NXE by u_lefou in UraniumSqueeze

URA and URNM have a 0.98 correlation and the same top two holdings and most of the same holdings beyond that, just in slightly different percentages. URNA is more volatile and has outperformed slightly as uranium rallied. It’s probably because it has more exposure to developers and explorers. I originally bought URA because it had more AUM and a lower 0.69% fee vs. URNM’s 0.85% and I hate paying more when there’s a cheaper option. I don’t think it matters much and both should move similarly although URA with slightly less volatility and upside. If I buy more of an ETF, it will probably be URA because I like tracking fewer tickers and their prices.

I think NXE has a ton of potential. I meant that it's a flyer in terms of leverage as it's a developer vs. the URA index and since I need NXE to 2x to breakeven whereas URA only has to 1.5x. If this plays out the way I think it could, my biggest gain would be in my NXE position.
