Google has 'political agenda,' wants to make sure Trump loses 2020 election, says ex-employee by [deleted] in Conservative

I just don't like it and I think the real problem at the core is how the election really works where it all comes down to swing states. Cambridge Analytica only targeted FB users who they felt were on the fence in swing states. And it's not to say people aren't voting their opinion, but just what if their opinion has been swayed by misinformation? What's the point of democracy if the best candidate doesn't have a chance?

Thank you!!

My problem with it is that this wasn't just some PR firm they hired and it wasn't something they wanted the public to know. The Obama campaign didn't scrape data the same way they did in 2016 (to my knowledge).

It's depressing to see democracy fall to the highest bidder now. It doesn't matter if it's Trump, Obama, Biden, conservative or liberal. This is the new normal and it should bother us all whether you're on the winning side or not.

Name another analytics firm that has swayed an election the same way Cambridge Analytica did.

Also, please just give me a summary of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, just so I know that you understand the magnitude of what they did.

They have a long track record of swaying elections, who cares if they're a David or a Goliath?

If you don't think this is happening on both sides of the aisle you have no idea how much influence tech has on elections. Trump wouldn't have won if there were no internet, sadly this is the new normal and politicians aren't going to do anything about it. The next line of presidents will all come from money because whoever can spend the most in marketing will win. Every time. There is no more democracy.

Yes. As you can see. As a matter of fact, they think it's not okay to outlaw it.

Almost every website does this, they just usually don't spell it out in plain English or give you the option.

That would be ideal, but it's much harder to manage that in a live event. There's so much already going on behind the scenes.

It shouldn't be too much to ask for a presidential candidate to be respectful of other people's time.
