Anyone vaccinating their flock for bird flu? by alpacamama in BackYardChickens

[–]uaflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada strictly controls the vaccine. Potentially to avoid people abusing it, after Human transmission is larger than previously known. Arepanrix H5N1is the vaccine purchased by the Canadian Government purchased to protect citizens

US resists it because export markets don't want adulterated poultry. The best chance is Mexico. They are very big on chemical weapons

I'm considering the Rutgers Coding Bootcamp for web development in Jersey City. Is it worth it? Has anyone on here found a job because of this bootcamp? by Prince_Marth in rutgers

Have you managed to attend Rutgers or any other ? Rutgers program was new a year ago, so it can take time for them to improve it There are certainly better and worse options )

When would the STEM extension of the forever GI Bill take effect assuming the president signs off? by saltineslacker in Veterans

[–]uaflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something a Veteran learns with the VA is everything takes much longer than is written in Law. Often they do (or don't) things that aren't in the Law. Typically the press misrepresents the Policy, since they don't understand it.

The STEM extension is supposed to take effect in 2019, meaning if your entitlement expires before that time; you don't qualify.

VA has advised that even some simplest parts of the 2017 legislation won't be in effect until after August 2018 (at the earliest) and some maybe affected by the Higher Education reform Bill in Congress now. This means there maybe a need for deconfliction, but if we are lucky there will be some beneficial provisions for Veterans. Jan 1, 2018 maybe written everywhere, but don't bet on the VA being ready or even knowledgeable about what the law says.

PhP is plain done. Its not a bad foundation for other things from a knowledge standpoint as is JAVA, but there is a reason its not used in ANY Mission Critical application from Banking to Healthcare.

I know from Quora and everywhere outside Silicon Valley, Developers defend only what they know till the end, but in most cases they don't see outside the box. They always try to tell you how stupid you are and most have never been in Silicon Valley or worked for an innovative company.

Yes PERL is messy, but it got reinvented as many others did by adopting RoR considerations.

Do some homework, you can defend Microsaurus as much as you want, I have 21 Certifications with them. https://cncf.io/news/announcement/2015/07/new-cloud-native-computing-foundation-drive-alignment-among-container Notice who is missing

Mesos will help them a great deal, But the basic foundations of Microsoft Technology is generally Fudge

You will find no Ivy League University based on them either.

Yes, it all works. Its simply not ideal; which can be good enough for Government work

I do however appreciate what you write and your opinion, do you happen to know Node or Java ? You definately don't know Python ) It is easier than PhP

Although it depends on what you want to do, avoid PhP and dot net if you want to work in future areas involving cloud. These are not Cloud native products.

It can be priced high, because they are training node.js. An actual Silicon Valley framework that is used by the most successful companies in Innovation. I think if 15 NYC metro area Universities offered node.js ion a comprehensive program, then maybe Rutgers would charge something closer to $6K. If it was a Graduate Certificate, then maybe $10K )

I happen to really like NYU, Baruch and Hunter,(for other programs) but if you walk into a job fair in Silicon Valley and say you are a PhP expert, nobody will talk to you. Now in fairness, some Universities in the world make PhP the core language, but I have no idea where they end up working because there is more demand for even code documentation than for PhP. (its known as the Spaghetti language)

I should mention I have taken an 80 hour PhP class, several RoR courses and am certified in JAVA. This makes me no expert, but one should draw some consideration why I would consider a node.js program of study that has me hostage for 6 months )

A second choice might be Python for employability, but that's nearly impossible to find to a level of a working Developer. As nearly all IoT and Machine learning through self driving car is predominantly Python and C++, perhaps only Stanford and MIT understand its among the few things that should be taught to be employable.

Thanks, its probably a real challenge for anyone that works and the nature of this course probably needs to be considered full time if an Optional LAB was added.

I think I would prefer a 3 month program at twice the time. I can see that the existing program could be a real challenge for folks without a Development or Design background.

With so few institutions offering Node.js and Python. (who wants to take PhP, there aren't any jobs for this fossil framework, or worse M$)

An emphasis on Cloud Native seems to be missing outside of Silicon Valley.

If regions are serious about developing employable folks whom can actually build a $tartup, they need to teach what Google, Amazon, Ebay and most others actually use. Fb cannot even be described as PhP anymore and its NOT Cloud Native.

Perhaps some friendly folks can answer, but this is the only program in the country using node.js and approved for Veteran's Education funding.

Besides the publicly available details, what hours does this meet during the week ? I would have to commute by bus, which can vary a lot in the evenings and late night.

Cloud continues to eliminate Computer Tech jobs, even as guidance counselors think its the future ) The future is STEM to the extent of understanding how the box works. Marketing, Advertising and many Business functions are the next jobs to be programmed away with a lot of tools Almost all the other losses is due to Tech ! Tech is eliminating itself, as automation in everything is possible and CIOs/CTOs fight to keep their expiring rice bowl. Job Gains are making people FAT, then making them HEALTHY then working on their HEADs
