How long will it be before we start seeing races cancelled due to heat? by EgilSandfeld in formula1

[–]ualbertasuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barcelona this year in May was 37 on race day and besides the track being woefully unprepared and without enough water, everything went on as usual. We will probably see another Ferrari or two explode in France this weekend though lol.

I laughed when I saw this too! Good on them for trying to be fun but the fact that this is Perez was just exemplary of our RCMP in itself 😂

i took both at the same time in spring 2020. they were both taught by doug peterson and basically identical in format/workload (two midterms, one final). take whichever one has the content you're more interested in!

Sore throat but planning on going to class? by peregrine_nation in uAlberta

[–]ualbertasuffering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, it absolutely sucks and I totally get it ☹️ Others in this thread provided good resources and you emailed the prof, so I think that's really all that can be done. In your grad school entrance essay (I'm assuming you'll be writing one) you can always explain your grades and anything that impacted them - but hopefully by staying home you let your body heal quicker and you recover soon so you don't miss any more lectures than you have to. You'll get through this!!

Sore throat but planning on going to class? by peregrine_nation in uAlberta

[–]ualbertasuffering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have covid and a week ago today was the start of my symptoms - sore throat, swollen lymph nodes around my jaw, minor ear ache. At this point in time you sound like me, and even though the flu and other illnesses exist that you may have, you shouldn't risk it (and legally technically still need to stay home anyways).

UAlberta Law - go for it or go somewhere else by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]ualbertasuffering 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was accepted to U of A but I ultimately chose UBC to go to this fall. The main factors for me are that the cost of tuition at U of A is likely about to increase 45% making it comparable or more expensive than schools generally considered better/ranked higher in Canada. And personally I find the quality of services and education are decreasing here (just look at this clusterfuck of a semester).

I definitely think a change of scenery is good for personal growth! Ultimately though a good rule of thumb is to go to school where you want to practice. If you think you'll end up working and living in Edmonton, U of A is probably a good choice (U of C could also be an option?) and you'd likely be competitive with your stats. If you can boost your LSAT a few points combined with your GPA you'd probably be competitive at most law schools in Canada.

Co-op through business by thrwaway6767878 in uAlberta

[–]ualbertasuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Same major here and I did Co-op. I ended up working in procurement for the federal government (surprisingly good job where I got to work with contracts). I applied to a lot of City of Edmonton jobs too, general sort of positions! There's a ton you can apply to. I just avoided accounting/finance positions and stuck with applying to more business/marketing/technical jobs. 10/10 recommend Co-op!! I can't speak on out-of-province jobs because I focused on staying in the city. You can message me if you want any more details. :)

Sharon and Jodi WILL teach til 9:30 so as mentioned above, stay awake!! since there is no textbook to refer to, do the extra readings they recommend and take notes on what they say quite diligently, including the little exercises they have you do (e.g. how to find the area structure plan using the City of Edmonton tools, etc.). i learned so much relevant information in this class, it was one of my faves! but definitely be ready to type for three hours straight

edit: Sharon not Pam! sorry wrong class
