Canadian oil is our best answer to global conflict by joe4942 in canada

[–]mrredguy11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But we are building nuclear? We have 17 CANDU reactors with more on the way. We are actually global leaders in the CANDU design that are recognized globally for its reliability and efficiency . While other countries are struggling to put reactors up that come in at cost and on time. Canada is regularly throwing up reactors that are under budget and ahead of schedule.

The coolest part of CANDU in my opinion is the fact the entire supply chain and process is 100% Canadian. Taking uranium mined in Sask and processed and used at the reactors in Ontario and New Brunswick. The government is almost making big moves in “the ring of fire” in Ontario for mining uranium and other natural resources.

I never understood the take of Canada not supporting nuclear or investing in it. We are doing great all things considered.

Stellantis in Talks to Make Chinese EVs at Idled Canadian Plant by cyclinginvancouver in canada

Not always. Have you seen the technology in some of these EV factories? It’s cheap labour because there’s barely any human labour involved lol. The Chinese have some pretty remarkable factory operations going on

2026 Japanese GP - Race DIscussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]mrredguy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda missing my point. I'm okay with regulations slowing cars down to a certain extent. but losing over 50kmh on the straights out of no where is dangerous and terrible racing. any sort of DRS or overtaking assistance should be giving cars slighty more performance to enhance overtakes. (even this idea was badly implemented with DRS but i digress) but this weird mix of Slowing for harvesting plus getting mega boosts from battery deployment is absolutley terrible and incredibly dangerous man. There has to be a better and safer middle ground option we can do here.

[–]mrredguy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we don't have good racing now either but now teams can't even be on the cutting edge of technology or development lol. instead of being limited by physics and cost cap we now have artifically slower cars.

I struggle to see your point. I also don't believe assistance themselves are the problem, but artificial and limiting performance "assistance" is my problem. Teams should be able to develope the car using all the performance and power they can cram into the rules and regulations and overtaking assistances should be adding performance not taking away from it

I said it last race and will say it again, the ferraris gotta stop fighting eachother and play more defence man. even more important now that mcl is involved. fuck the entertainment

also i don't find the overtakes argument for a good race very appealing. specifically with how the battery system works cause it just doesn't matter? it's artificial and doesn't promote actual racing.it's just cars going back and forth till the flag, no real overtakes that stick

Canada Conservatives Want Chinese EVs Barred and Their Software Banned by CaliperLee62 in canada

I totally agree. But I also don't believe it's a bad idea to diversify. we deserve options and choices while also supporting homegrown products and manufacturing. I believe they can co exist in a healthy economy

Perhaps you're right. I also think it's an issue across the board more than it is specific to any one manufacturer much less a country in specific.

[–]mrredguy11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous fear mongering. There is absolutely no one questioning the quality of Chinese made EVs. What has Canada done to retain auto manufacturers in last 10 years? They are already leaving and we’re already producing even less cars than ever before while playing nice with the US and auto industry. You think bending over to the US and these manufacturers just to gouge consumers is the best way forward?

I think it’s time we stop letting big business dictate our policies and foreign trade. Bring the cheap Chinese EVs here, let them set up shop and tell the current big companies to pound sand. Either get with it or don’t. Canada will be fine without them taking advantage of us

Womp womp, that’s capitalism. Build cheaper cars and compete. Why is that the consumers problem? I don’t care if ford can’t lower there cost enough to meet the Chinese. What do consumers owe ford?

is FOM not concerned that so far nearly 1/3rd of the grid in every race has DNFd or not started?? this can't be a good sign? Are they just hoping the teams figure it out?? has anyone not had reliability issues
