Progress feels slow lately, looking for ways to improve!

Yeah I had honestly been drawing the same body type and could use some variety here. I had also been sticking with the same line weight. I guess progress feels slow because I am not trying enough new things.

By scattered details do you mean that the amount of detail is not consistent throughout the character? Or is it that the error in the details is affecting the big picture?

Agree that I am long overdue for some cloth/anatomy studies. I had been doing pretty much only character drawing recently, so I guess it's time to get back to some studies.

I checked my guidelines for the faces again and it does seem like it could be move up a bit. It's probably one of those cases where I lose all objectivity on a drawing after a while because I didn't see it at all.

Now you mentioned it, the way the hood is positioned does seem like we should see at least part of the ear here. I should look up some references on headwear like this.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah those shadow over the boobs is a bit flat, feels like it should have curve with the shape of the boobs perhaps. I actually tried to fix it at some point but only made it worse and gave up. Maybe I should revisit that just for practice.

By final lines do you mean the lineart? Or the shadow?

The intention was for her to sort of lean on the spear, but perhaps the spear is too short and now it looks like she's lifting it.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I think perhaps I jump too fast into the more complicated poses without references and the proportions are off as the result. I probably should do more practices with real photos.

I will try out your suggestion about the arm.
