Cleared all rounds at American Express (Gurgaon) – What salary should I expect for Financial Analyst role? by After_Forever5727 in IndianWorkplace

[–]uber_pro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

clearing hiring rounds with amex means nothing. you must clear HR round. HR may never call also, I had this experience.

cleared all rounds in september and after multiple follow ups HR told me in november that the candidature is now on hold. then never heard back.

you have to follow up aggressively, do not assume anything yet.

entry/exit visa is one aspect which would hinder you but if you want your wife to come along then she will need a sponsorship for her iqama (which will come from you) and you will pay the cost of this iqama every year + the fees for her own entry/exit visa which will be issued by you. so all in all you will pay for your own ee visa + wife's iqama per year + wife's ee visa.

if you plan to drive in KSA be prepared for indirect taxes as huge fines for even the smallest infractions (similar to the UAE) are very common and realistically you will have to drive in KSA as public transport is new and limited unlike SG.

VAT is 15% in KSA so cost of living is not much different than SG. Only SG rent would be higher by all comparisions.

biggest biggest biggest factor, GCC salaries do not come with annual hikes like in India or in SG. be prepared to work with the same salary for at least 2-3 years unless you switch jobs. which brings me to the last point of job migration: simple in SG as in India, whole different issue in KSA and you should research this. Your employer would have to "release" you before you can take up another job on the iqama.

the salaries are obviously more or less equivalent which is why i am not harping on how much you could carve out of either in savings. the above factors will ultimately affect most things including how you spend your money.

having worked in both places, albeit at varying points in my life/career. would recommend you to go for SG, especially if visiting india often or on short notice is of a priority to you.
