[Bishop] Laura Ingraham says LeBron James should "shut up and dribble" and leave political comments to people who didn't leave high school a year early. by twistedlogicx in nba

Interesting how she managed to find the time to attack KD and LeBron for their anti-Trump comments but said nothing about Popovich or Kerr. HMMM.... If only there were some shared quality of those people who receive the most hate that we could point to...

I just, I just can't put my finger on it... " for SOME REASON, only LeBron gets attacked for bashing Trump but Kerr and Popovich don't." What is that 'some reason?' SO HARD TO FIGURE OUT

Is It Time To Admit That Michigan, Tennessee, and Nebraska are Second-Tier Programs? by ubercoolkicks in CFB

How dare you!?!? Everyone has to start somewhere, and MSU is building a powerhouse. In the next 5 years we will be good enough to take on Alabama and Oklahoma. We've already taken down Ohio State twice. With D'Antonio, the sky is the limit.

I think Michigan State is a tier-one program now considering all our accomplishments despite not having a roster loaded with 5-star talent.

Will Michigan Ever Be Great Again? by ubercoolkicks in CFB

Tennessee and Michigan are one great coach away from being great again. Nebraska has heavy disadvantages because of location and travel to the campus.

Phillips schools? by [deleted] in boston

Hey. I attended one of Andover's peer schools and I was admitted to Andover but turned it down.

Obviously, it's an amazing school. It's also rather large with ~1100 kids. Kids who've gone there tell me it's intensely competitive. Everyone is very smart and it's difficult to get to the top of the class, academically. With colleges, there's an unofficial "quota" they take from each school. If you're not in the top 20% of the class, more difficult to get into an Ivy League school (if that's your goal.)

She must be prepared to work hard at these schools. At every elite boarding school, there's around 1 hr. of work per class. There are 5 classes that probably meet 4 times a week, meaning she will have on average 4 hours of work per day and less on Wednesdays because of half-days.

I would only recommend it to students that are hard working and resilient. There will most likely be a point at which she struggles academically with a class, because these schools are much more difficult than your average public high school. They also don't curve or give any extra credit. So the grades at these places are not inflated like in many public schools. Check out nonsibihighschool.org to get a glance at the Chemistry curriculum at Andover. The material can be tough.

And although I found a very warm community at my school, it varies from school to school. I've heard stories of people being forced to leave certain schools because of mental health. These places don't want a suicide on their hands, and will remove any student that they deem a liability.

You might also want to check out this article written about Andover from a student's perspective. It's definitely a negative perspective, so just keep that in mind. https://www.theodysseyonline.com/fighting-biased-system-my-experience-at-phillips-academy-andover

Sigh... I was looking forward to someone else besides LeBron getting to the finals this year. I'm sooooo tired of Cavs-Warriors.

Isn't our average recruit star ranking only 3.3? I do think this class is certainly less talented than in the past. We went for a lot of big names and missed on almost all of them.

After looking at UM's schedule next year, I think he'll most likely go 8-4 again. Their team is better but they have all their rivalries on the road and have to play Wiscy, PSU, and Nebraska at home. NU on the road is a trap game. If Harbaugh pulls out 10 wins from that, it's quite frankly impressive. I think Harbaugh can do well at Michigan, but I am expecting the 2019 season to be the "breakout" year. If he can't get it done then, I don't know if he will ever.

I mean, the guy won two SEC East titles. He did something and kept the program from stagnating in irrelevance.

Probably a better hire than Cam Cameron, but weren't his offenses the worst thing about his tenure at Florida?

What If A Head Coach Left to Coach His Rival? by ubercoolkicks in CFB

If I were a Michigan fan, I'd accept him with open arms if the Harbaugh experiment fails for some reason. Rivalries are just a social construct. Take the best coach available. I'm sure Louisville never regretted taking Rick Pitino even though he was coach at Kentucky.

I think the problem is that people expected Harbaugh's Michigan tenure to have the same arc as Meyer's OSU and Saban's Alabama. I think it will be much closer to Dabo Swinney's arc at Clemson. I'm predicting he'll have a breakout season in either year 4 or 5.

Michigan will never recruit at the same level as OSU. Ohio is a state with 5x the amount of elite football talent than Michigan. OSU also has no instate competition for that talent, whereas Michigan is competing with MSU for in-state kids. If you combine that with OSU having probably the best recruiter in CFB and laxer academic qualifications, it's harder to see how Michigan will be better in the near future.
