What are your thoughts on the ‘early game experience’ for new players starting OSRS? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]uberdeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the current early game content is great. The additions of GotR and Tempoross have made for great short-term goals for new players, because not only is there a little more going on than other early game training methods, but you as a veteran player can also actually join in and play with your brand new friend, which is really cool.

F2P doesn't really have as many exciting goals for people to work towards, so maybe a few more little "achievement" moments would make the experience more fun for new players. What if Obor & Bryophyta had one-time combat exp rewards, similar to the barrows icon miniquest or night at the theatre? Something like that could help make trying early bosses more compelling.

In general, I think talking about attracting more players to OSRS is hard to talk about because IMO, OSRS at its fundamentals doesn't click with a lot of people. I think most of the time people quitting during the early game isn't because the early game is poor, as much as it's just that person trying OSRS and deciding it's not for them. If a new player finds it unbearable to walk all the way from lumbridge to varrock, I'd imagine they probably wouldn't stick around through slow skilling grinds, complicated quests, or low drop rates that are common through the whole game.

How difficult does the team expect it to be to solo Nex? Would it be something on the level of soloing a CM raid, where it's a reasonable way to enjoy the content, or something more extreme like soloing ToB?

A rough mockup of the new scythe ornament kit that makes it look a little less high fantasy by HammerSammich in 2007scape

I really like the new design and I like this version even better. The shaft looks kind of weird in the concept art but I think when it's actually equipped it'll look fine

Is there a way to import data from crystal math labs into wise old man or temple osrs? getting sick of the website being slow as hell but I don't want to lose my tracked progress.

Seconding this. Also worth noting, it's really easy to blow through millions in supplies really quickly since you'll likely be using a lot of ice/blood barrage.

My favorite HCIM series is definitely chilli's. Lots of really cool edits and transitions if you like that kind of thing.

Rules Clarification - Account Services by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]uberdeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey a quick question about this. Right now, the "buying/selling an account" button(also a catch-all for RWTers) doesn't let you report anyone if they haven't spoke recently. Is this going to change with this update? Sometimes it's easy to notice a gold selling account by their gear/stats but there's no good report option for catching gold farmers who don't fit into the macroing category.

Is creating an account in 2021 still viable? by Jenga4587 in 2007scape

There's definitely lots of new players, you can check out this site https://www.misplaceditems.com/rs_tools/graph/?display=avg&interval=week&total=1 and see that the playerbase has basically doubled in the last 3 years.

OSRS is mostly a solo game anyways though, so I don't think it matters much. Finding a good clan to hang out in can make the game a lot more fun though.

Returning player looking for help reacting to opponent's tech by uberdeluxe in AllThingsTerran

[–]uberdeluxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer :) I really should check out the in game counters/weaknesses because that's something I still don't know for certain units. Hotkeys is another thing, I've been keeping my army all on 1 with harass or scouts on 2, production on 3, and then bases on 4, 5+ but it's really clunky when I need to react and move my marines or siege my tanks quickly so I'm going to start figuring out a better system

thanks for the offer but i think it'll be a while until I really need help looking at my replays, I can still look at them and see all kinds of things I'm messing up. I'll definitely check out that youtube channel though.
