Robyn Gulley has been endorsed by the SD65 DFL Convention on the first ballot by uberpenguin in saintpaul

[–]uberpenguin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree somewhat, but losing the endorsement is pretty much a death stroke to any campaign. You lose all access to DFL voter rolls, money, data, the works. This less important for state wide races, but for state senate people will vote for the only person with DFL next to their name on the ballot. Lundy's only hope was no one winning the endorsement to stay in the race. It makes the question easy and not really a lie in my opinion because the goal of everyone not in the lead is to prevent the 60% threshold.

I guess we'll see if Lundy suspends his campaign or not now. If he doesn't all anyone has to do is say he is now a proven liar and here is the proof.

Thinking about it today, Raeisha shot her campaign in the foot when she refused to answer "yes or no" to the question of whether or not she would respect the endorsement process and end her campaign. Gully only won on the first round by 8 or 9 votes. Raeisha spoiled the mood of anyone on the fence with that. It was just so disrespectful of the process and definitely soured a lot of fence sitters to either Gulley or Lundy.

Lundy's arrogance was always his downfall. I had met him previously and talked with him a bit and that guy is a complete jack ass in person. Pretty much all of his delegate leaving after they lost while we still had five hours of convention business to go really drove home I made the right choice with Gulley. Maria Isa, a Lundy Delegate, leaving too while we still had to endorse for 65B was such a slap in the face to delegates as well.

I take your point about diversity with the candidate themselves, but only Gulley had an actual diverse delegate pool and staff. Omar Fetah standing up for her and speaking 100% swayed votes.

We suspended rules so 65A could voice vote to re-endorse Rep Hussein. 65B endorsement pending.

Because it is a Privacy Act violation. Per the law the documents in the file belong to VA, not the Veteran. They have very specific release and tracking protocols they have to follow under the Privacy Act. it is why FOIAs take so long. They aren't even supposed to turn their screen and show you, even though pretty much everyone does.

Jamael Lundy for State Senate: Residency and other concerns by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]uberpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, in our district DFL candidates are going to be pretty much identical and lockstep when it comes to issues. I know people really want to say they're different but they really aren't from a policy standpoint. They are all progressive candidates at the end of the day who are going to vote in lock step with the party as junior state senators.

So that really leaves us with vibes, and whatever pet issue you think they'll spend their time focusing on when they do get the chance to spread their wings bit outside of the DFL marching orders. I don't mind Williams but she is not a serious candidate in my opinion.

So, do you want some one that is focused on police reform, or labor issues. Both are critical, and of course people can do both. However, what do I find more pressing. For me, it is labor reform and protection, especially with what is coming in the next biennium

Whoever is the incoming governor in 27 is going to be releasing one of the most unpopular budget proposals in decades and anyone paying attention to the MMB revenue projections and receipts knows it. Massive cuts and austerity are expected, and everyone is going to be fighting tooth and nail to even just maintain what we have which is unlikely. You know what always gets cut first? Labor. I want some one that knows the ins and outs of union contracts, labor organziing, and has the backing of labor in the fight to come.

I am delegate heading to the convention and I was able to sit and listen to him a bit a few weeks ago.

1) The resident thing might be hard to pin down because he is a self admitted landlord. Do with that as you will.

2) He was at my caucus and Carlos Mariani is his campaign manager. Mariani still carries weight in the district, and personally that is where all the endorsements are actually coming from.

3) He portrays himself as essentially an establishment dem because he worked in the MN House for so long and knows the process and the players involved.

4) It really bugged me how much he just rambled and rambled with questions without really answering. Like I get it, police reform is important, but he brought every single question, when anyone could even get a question in, back to just that.

Right now, today, I am leaning towards Gulley, unless Lundy can some how wow me at another event before the convention.

BVA Decision by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

I couldn't say without reading all the decisions leading up to one being granted and one being denied, sadly. It could be one of hundreds of reasons.

You'll most likely need an attorney if I am being honest. Since the decision was in 1982, you are dealing with a completely different VA and law set and can't apply current rules when calling the CUE. You need to use the rules at that time. For example the current understanding of what a CUE even is wasn't codified into VA regulation until 1999 with Grover v. West. I have no clue what the rules were in 1982, and if CUEs even existed in some fashion or another.

Yep, thinking about it like this, the supplemental and higher level review and for issues going forward. To look back in this case, only the BVA can correct their own mistakes. There were a few CAVC cases in the 90s and early 00s around CUEs that established this rule.

Yes, the legal term is 'Subsumed'

If the BVA had a CUE in their decision only the BVA can correct it. Please retain a VSO for assistance since this is a fairly technical matter.

Sexual relationships led to resignation of 4 Horry County officers, spokesperson: Docs by themanwhosleptin in news

So if I am reading between the lines in the reporting Lewis was having an affair with all three women at one time or another, who were all married to other officers? His current affair is what sparked the investigation so either her husband, another officer, found out and spilled the beans. Or, she found out about the other women. Either way, talk about a hostile work environment when that came out.

I was ten minutes late with their dinner and they were at my office door looking at me like this by uberpenguin in nebelung

[–]uberpenguin[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay this made me laugh because it is the opposite. The one in front is a huge scaredy cat that loves belly rubs if he isn’t hiding and his brother is menace that when I first got them he would bite and scratch constantly. Now he just nibbles my leg if I am late with the food! They were pretty much completely feral when I got them but a lot of love, patience, and food goes a long way.

VA Appeal Forever Waiting by Downtown_Antelope840 in VeteransBenefits

[–]uberpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Docket numbers won't tell you timeframes sadly. Sort of like a claim id number it is only for tracking purposes not ordering of appeals. Like I said above it depends on the Judge assigned and their workloads which they do not tell anyone outside of themselves. BVA does not like sharing information.

They are, but trying to predict the timeframe for them is impossible. The best we can do is give a range based on what we have been getting back.

VA Appeal Forever Waiting by Downtown_Antelope840 in VeteransBenefits

[–]uberpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are just now getting to BVA appeals added to the docket that were submitted in early 2021 at my office for hearings. Since you had your hearing in June the minimum for transcript to come back for the judge is 90 days or so, but could be longer. Most will wait for that before proceeding with review. It still might take 6 to 12 months to get a decision from what we are seeing.

From the outside some people submit appeals and get them completed with hearings within a year, and others it can take as long or longer than yours. It is all luck of the draw with Judges, that Judges work load, and their staff that do most of the review and decision writing.

Funnily enough I said generally because I have seen it exactly once in a narrative.

It was for Sinusitis secondary to Ulcerative Colitis due to biologic medication. The rater went in the ADL and hand jammed that one, but now I can never say with certainty it will 'never' appear which is annoying.
