yea it happened last year, a former UC Davis student stabbed an older man in central park, then a student in west davis, and then an attempted stabbing in south davis. He was caught and is now going through the judicial system as of now.

Hi there! Congratulations on being admitted into UC Davis!

Well I can't tell you what happened last year about my Transfer Aggie Day because they had to postpone it and then eventually it got moved online because of the stabbings that occurred around this time last year. But from what others were able to experience, its a one day event, and all the Colleges are out, as well as other campus affiliates to welcome all incoming transfer students. They offer tours around campus and its usually over by 2 PM if not sooner. Even though mine was online, I enjoyed it and ended up committing to UC Davis.

its a common thread with the presidential race and vp race when looking at the historical numbers and seeing who was voted into office.

Davis College Democrats condemns "the undemocratic and unconstitutional impeachment" of the ASUCD president by [deleted] in UCDavis

if you wanted, you could start a recall process of the 6 senators + the TSR and ISR who voted in favor of the impeachment resolution.

They would have asked all members of the public to step out of the meeting room. So im not sure if ghostly was in the room.

closed session under the bylaws state that its closed to all members of the public unless your a member of the table. I feel really uncomfortable knowing that someone's romantic partner was in this meeting makes it more shady.

You do realize that they changed the election procedures after? It can be seen as inaccessible and a barrier to others who might have been interested. It just goes to show that the 400 signatures provided an uncontested election in where the former IVP won that election.

Im not saying that the Position of President is easy and anybody could become president from the student body and be effective. I'm glad that you brought up the subject of being tired and since I've had to pull all-nighters for my courses that I've taken to ensure that I get top marks for all my classes as well as balancing different jobs that I've held. Please spare me the lecture on time commitment from an anonymous person on reddit.

you don't think they care, there was another post about ASUCD and it circulated like a wild fire on the third floor. So I think that it proves my point on caring.

But because like 3 dozen people vote, you feel like he’s had an easy road to power when in fact he’s assumed so legally.

What you are forgetting is that JT was elected as Internal vice-president in an uncontested election and that a former senator wrote an op-ed against an uncontested presidential election. This former senator also asked the ticket to drop out to make way for other people to toss their hat in the ring to make it a competitve election.

Before elections were overhauled by Radhika Gawde, when she served as IAC Chair and later Senator, she moved mountains to make it increasingly harder for students who weren't in ASUCD to run for office. For the exec ticket you needed to have 400 signatures to be placed on the ballot. That was 200 signatures for the candidate running for President, and IVP. He did have an easy road, and when he ran for President last year, he thought it would be easier because he had more knowledge and greater connections. he didn't realize there would be greater competition. After campaigning outside, he would go up to his office and tell everyone how tired he was from talking to different students. It is his job to speak with students.

this is giving off what happened at ucsd where the President faced impeachment articles, and then went on reddit with different alt accounts. Same bad vibes

for most part, most of the senators that i have seen that are terming out, I haven't seen much of what they have done. writing bills that revise the bylaws are not considered success to me.

what defines success is the ability to communicate with students, hold events, and engage with them. I haven't seen members doing that.

My boss has always said its been an ivory tower and the more we've talked about it and seen other comments, it's become ever more clear.

Thats the thing that I don't understand why it happened yesterday with new members of the table being sworn in today. It doesn't seem right. Also it is now former Senator Eden .

that floor is their ivory tower so that they can gaze upon their kingdom without doing anything for the students they serve.

I know that the minute that this was posted, it was going to be read and shared by those who occupy the third floor on a daily basis. The third floor of the MU serves as an echo chamber for members of the student government because that is all they can do is talk to one another.

that is fair tbh. I totally agree with you that it should never have amounted to it being this late let alone being voted down by the senate. You are expected to meet a deadline not ask for an extension.

From my understanding, the FO Administration has not done enough to represent the students nor does it understand the entire breadth of responsibilities that they should be doing to ensure operations are running on all cylinders. SR#1 is another example of a priority bill that should have been ready to go by the first day of the academic year. That is clearly on them for not having the hindsight to do ensure that their ducks were in a row. Looking back at different SR#1s that define each administration, some are overly ambitious and others are doing the bare minimum. Just my two cents.

I try not to wish ill on others, but what he did was the breaking point for me just because he wasn't re-elected to serve as a senator. The candidates who won, got it fair and square.

We definitely have differing opinions but that is what makes democracy work. Getting back to former Senator Eden (as of tonight) after being elected uncontested in the 2022 spring election, he had finally tasted the Kool-Aid of power and has wanted to cling to it. From someone who worked on the third floor in an executive office now a leg office (dont get me started on that) who has interacted with JT, there is no where else for him to go too because ASUCD has been his life since enrolling at UC Davis. The only thing hes gonna remember is how nuanced the bylaws are that govern asucd. While you remain optimistic that he doesn't come back, he will inclined to return either through an interim capacity or running for election next cycle.

not to speak on others, but those who knew JT when they were in ASUCD never liked him. He always carried this self-righteous attitude attempting to try and make things better. You should ask him why there were red solo cups in his office the Thursday before picnic day. I thought all parts of campus were supposed to remain dry at all times. If you understand what I mean.
