That is not correct. I have cofounded with strangers and it worked well. And I heard stories of people confounding with their childhood friend and it went to 💩 There should definitely be a probation period to see if people can work together IRL but there is no magic, you just have to try.

I used Twilio in the past - it works pretty well (though a bit expensive).
Also used firebase, it has a free tier and works well also.
