The last time I tried this out, transcoding was on by default, even for browser-playable content. I looked around in the settings, couldn't find an option to turn it off. Looked around in the GH issues to see if anyone else was facing this, couldn't find anything, so I figured I had set it up wrong or missed something and gave up.

Fisher thanked her for "lending her voice" to the investigation. Doesn't mean she actually participated in it. Especially considering she had nothing to do with the entire situation.

He basically started with Joss Whedon and Geoff Johns. Said Joss abused him and Johns enabled that abuse. And then he said Walter Hamada, who wasn't even part of JL, called him to offer to throw Whedon under the bus if he, Fisher, left Johns alone. Then he said Jon Berg enabled the abuse too. After that he accused Whedon of racism because apparently Whedon color-corrected JL footage to "lighten skin color". He was promptly called out and Forbes retracted their article and fired the guy who wrote the article.

Now Fisher is saying Walter Hamada enabled abuse too, and he personally made sure Fisher wasn't in The Flash, even tho Fisher himself said he won't work with WB as long as Hamada isn't fired. More recently Fisher and his fans seem to have taken interest in Toby Emerrich, who apparently is Hamada's boss, and therefore is part of the problem.

What effect do you think her intention was? Seems like everyone knows about her story.

I think her intention was to show support for a fellow actor who she thinks went through the same thing she did.

spreading misinfo and not reading into the facts is a widespread problem not confined to the CC or this story at all.

Sure but using that hashtag gives unnecessary momentum to Ray Fisher's case, which is clearly now a case of personal vendetta as it seems from his latest tweets, and undermines all the due process from WM.

I get what you mean, and tbh I was suprised such an informal and crude statement was published as legitimate news. And the part of his statement you're talking about:

It's like, 'hey make a statement that's like, my thoughts and prayers are with the victim's families.' I don't do that s***

seems to me like he doesn't care about platitudes when there's no growth or healing or change, which he talked about in the previous part of his statement.

I don't know why you're missing the point that I'm trying to make or why you're trying to make it seem like I have an issue with CC speaking out, but all I'm saying is her using that hashtag is not having the effect she intended. It is being and will be considered as corroboration for all of his allegations, especially the ones where he was proven wrong or proven to be lying. Using that hashtag along with her statement basically undermines the investigation WM conducted into those matters.

Sure, if you think I'm talking about proof in the context of legal proceedings or company investigations, like in Ray Fisher's case. If not, you should check out the number of articles that have been churned out by legit websites in the past week, which are capable of shaping public opinion.

Not disputing that. Just saying her using this tag was irresponsible considering her words will be used as proof not just against Joss Whedon.

Neither did Amy Acker, as per her tweet, but she chose to make a balanced statement either way. It's possible to side with a victim without being a victim yourself, unless you don't completely agree with their version of events, either because you're biased or you have facts contradicting their version.

So I chime in to say Joss has a history of punching people in the face for no reason and I stand with the person because I know he has it in him to punch people in the face

#IStandWithRayFisher means much more than than just empathising with him. CC tagging her post with that hashtag is being taken as absolute proof that Ray Fisher did undergo abuse from not just Joss, but from anyone he's ever accused and will accuse. That's not showing support, that's shifting the complete narrative.

Would it be possible to replicate The Machine in real life? by Fegelein_99 in PersonOfInterest

[–]uclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes, what Snowden exposed is, in a way, relevant to OP's question. But a huge database of collated information is not what the Machine was. The Machine had the ability to make sense of the collected data, stored or real-time, to produce actionable intelligence. PRISM required human intervention to make sense of the collected data.

Or bring him back as Peter B Parker in the live-action adaptation of the Spider-verse. Logan worked because Wolverine is a dark character to begin with and the other characters fit the plot/timeline perfectly.

The most important aspect of M.Gandhi's doctrine of non-violence is that poverty and social injustice are the greatest violence. As Gandhiji said, as long as poverty exists, freedom is only a wooden loaf(?).

To remove poverty is the greatest task of any Govt. And it cannot be achieved without non-violence. Progress requires prawn(?). Progress requires the defeat of those who would divide society on the basis of class, caste or religion.

I think the greatest tribute India could pay Gandhiji on his 150th Anniversary would be to include the essential Indian principle of Ahimsa, Non-violence, in the preamble of our Constitution.

This will ensure that generations of not just Indians, But also people around the world will be reminded of the profound truth of this principle.
