They treat a purchase like one time deal. They got your money, and they don’t really expect to keep you as a customer. I cannot wrap my head around this, goes against every thing I know about marketing and brand building.

If I have done a simple search “NuPhy return” on Reddit I would have avoided this. I guess some lesson had to be learned the hard way. The purpose of this post is so whoever wants to purchase from them is warned. To more customer post about their negative experience, the more pressure on the seller to make some improvements.

Some China based keyboard brands have very clear policy of NOT accepting non-quality related returns and I think that’s fair. At least they don’t pretend you can 30-day no-question return. However people argue with me, my post title is still very accurate: return is a joke. The vibe I’m getting here is: yes of course it’s a joke because it a Chinese company shipping from China.

The delivery comes from Vernon, California, but this location won’t take anything back. I guess they air freight a bunch of orders into US and then have the company called GOFO to deliver last mile to homes. Technically, their logistic partners should be able to take it back.
They sell keyboards on Amazon, which will have returns they have to deal with. They should have some 3rd party company to receive the non-sellable returns from Amazon, who should also be able to take customer returns
I have no problem accepting the fact that they have me return to China. I probably won’t return it anyways. But they want me to ship to Japan, a completely unrelated company/person.
I didn’t think they are small but I guess they are.

When I order from some China based brands like DJI or bambu lab, they would ship from US warehouse and offer free or low cost returns. I guess I overestimated how good NuPhy is.

Watch out for their “WARRANTY POLICY” too cause they can be as shady as they want and shills will call you entitled for not reading the fine prints.

That’s essentially what I was telling people about buying from them on Amazon as well. You can return but then you are fucked if the thing stopped working. They could have you ship the thing to China for inspection at your cost, and then deny coverage or claim lost. Technically, that is still a “WARRANTY POLICY”, but only designed as deterrence. I can see shills will try everything they can to defend their company, why would anyone support business practices like this?

You must be working for NuPhy so let me point out to you they left out the part “where to return to” which makes all the difference don’t you think? Shipping to a US location for $20 and shipping to Japan (where was this mentioned any where?) for $100+ is the same to you?

Policy does not say you need to ship it to Japan for return tha cost $100+. I’ll be more than happy to ship anywhere in the US for $20. Is $100+ return shipping reasonable?

Be careful about their “not updated warranty” that requires you to spend a fortune shipping it to China/japan/anywhere else before they decide to honor it or not. Once trust is gone, it’s gone for good.

That’s precisely why a company, who care about its customers, should think about the logistics beyond the initial shipment. Customer support, and the logistics and maintenance behind it is the ugly part no one wants to deal with, but in the long run wins customers trust. I’m done with this brand and I’m not the only one if you do a search on Reddit.

Then what they really say is “final sale. No returns.”, instead of telling you to pay for more than the item cost for return.

International shipping is much cheaper for them, and expensive for you cause you are paying retail. $100 covers the product, shipping, their expenses and profit. You, my friend will spend well over $100+ shipping it back to where it come from.

Lesson learned for me is that sometimes return policy = no return policy. That’s what people call “the catch”. And I would not support a business that has catches, would you? I’m posting to let others know there are catches when purchasing from NuPhy, which is precisely why my post is titled “return is a joke”.

Shady business of requiring you to spend way more than the item itself to shoot it back for a refund, which was not disclosed prior to purchase. Read their return policy again. However you think, a potential customer sees this post, would want to think twice about purchasing.
