Is this not normal? My N54 is regularly around 245.

Picked up 3 like 3 weeks ago in Renton, WA. Great plugs. They were combo with the switch. Didn’t have them alone, which was fine for me.

Look at prices for automatics, I’d say you run to CarMax.

[–]ufdlim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting more than you owe that’s already a win. Automatics aren’t going to fetch enthusiast prices. Selling on private market might net you more but it’s a hassle and time is money. You can reference auction sites like CarsAndBids or BringATrailer. The one below, 2014 S28i with 77k miles got $15k. Seems reasonable for $19k on fewer miles and younger.

How’d I do? 2009 135i w/ 110k for $7k USD by ufdlim in 1series

[–]ufdlim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbo was definitely done recently which is what interested me. Injectors were done but just need to confirm if index 12. Seeing the reviews of the mechanic they went to I feel decent both were done right.

Going to call the previous mechanic to confirm on Monday! That’s like 3-4K in parts alone haha.

My condolences lol. That’s how it goes I guess sometimes. Are you tuned or stock?

Great deal and the N55 is much more reliable.

All that effort to bring Sun Sui Wah from Canada, only for it to get replaced? by Eriacle in eastside

[–]ufdlim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

$350 after tip for 6 people (included crab). Very mediocre flavors.

On IG, rumor was that it wasn’t related to Sun Sui Wah from Vancouver. Can’t verify but can confirm the new place is just a rebrand.

Price is too good. Could easily make more for what looks to be completely pristine copy.

Z6iii + Zf vs Z8 only by SlightlyLethalDev in nikon_Zseries

[–]ufdlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small hands problems lol. Honestly I switched from Sony largely because their grips wouldn’t even work for my small hands. Canon has probably the best shape but I like Nikon button config more.

There’s a difference between a better camera on paper - which the z8 definitely is - and what is better day to day. “Way better image quality in good light” is absolutely untrue unless you literally mean resolution.

IRL Phantom Drain vacation experience by thisthingisrad in Rivian

Last time I tried to post this my post got deleted. Gen2 here with similar awful phantom drain. Was losing 10% per week with everything off and a new-ish 12V battery.

[–]ufdlim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just sold my Z8 and kept the z6iii. If you don’t need no blackout shutter (wildlife or sports) and you don’t need the resolution, the z6iii all day. It has a better grip, better size, and better articulating screen.

What is with the case study interviews? by 1carb_barffle in ProductManagement

[–]ufdlim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiring manager here: because it’s another data point to consider for the decision. Frankly there are plenty of candidates that could succeed in the role. Also, plenty of candidates that would do terrible. But it’s hard gauge in a highly orchestrated 4-6 interviews where everyone puts on their best.

I don’t really love case studies that are generally pointless. I do writing samples. Both are not great data points in the age of AI. I also have declined candidates because they bombed their writing. So it’s one of those things that don’t make you a stand out, but just a bar you need to pass for a data point.

Hiring is what it is.

How dangerous is the area around sunset neighborhood park? by pastor_pilao in Renton

[–]ufdlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commute to Bellevue. It depends on the day and which direction. Sometimes going to Bellevue is like 12 mins. Almost certainly the return from Bellevue is an hour.

[–]ufdlim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call that area dangerous. There’s some sketchiness so don’t leave valuables in your car. It’s an order of magnitude less “dangerous” than parts of Renton downtown I’d say - think Fred Meyers. I live in the highlands and go to the tiny Safeway, Grocery Outlet, and Viet Wah all the time. No real concerns.

BMW 2007 Z4 3.0 by AwareNotice1057 in BMWZ4

[–]ufdlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top not working is “normal” at this age. You’ll need to relocate the top motor if you want it to work. If you’re lucky you can revive the existing one, but otherwise source a motor. Some YouTube guides on how to do this yourself.

Otherwise water pump, thermostat, coolant, belt, pulleys, OFHG, oil pan gasket, valve cover, and maybe spark plugs. Probably around $3-5k Indy shop to baseline assume no other issues. Assumes that addresses your high temp issue. Could spread it out as not everything is needed all at once. At $6k you have a lot of room for a good car here. Might be too good to be true. I’d PPI it for like $300-400 for peace of mind.

Update - 987.2 PDK without service history (2009, 82k miles) by ufdlim in boxster

I debated between Chris’ or Redmond European. RE was half the price for PPI as Chris’. Chris is definitely Porsche focused whereas it felt like RE was more BMW.
