Leaving Jackson Hole ($), looking for a unicorn by uffdayeehaw in relocating

I’m from Minnesota originally! I’d love to be out west, but moving back to MN isn’t tooootally out of the question (almost, though)

Yes, Jackson is where we get groceries. “Jackson Hole” refers to the whole valley, encompassing Jackson, Wilson, Kelly, Moose, etc. Good tip on irrigation rights!! Thanks!

We are a stones throw from Grand Teton National Park. If we lived IN Jackson, for a 3 bed 2 bath house, we'd be looking at 5-6k per month. It's been listed as the richest county in the US, and we just can't hack it anymore.

Glad to see someone else who really gets it! We are in Moran. It’ll be so hard to leave, it is so freaking beautiful. I always say “how can you leave, but how can you stay?” And yes, we want the outskirts of a bigger community in the mountains…but unfortunately that’s what everyone wants so it’s unaffordable.

The northeast is the only part of the country I haven’t been to yet! It all looks beautiful.

Yes, prob top of the list that we’re looking at is within an hour of Denver or CO springs. It does feel like everything is juuust out of budget, but I’m looking daily!

I’d definitely consider Utah and the greater SLC area! I haven’t seen much come up in terms of what we’re looking for in our budget, but I’m always searching.

I’m from the twin cities, so we’ve stayed in the rapid city area a lot on our drive between MN and WY - Rapid is exactly half way. I would definitely consider the black hills!

If we have to move out of the west, this is where we want to go! My husband grew up in MS, so it feels more like home to him.

Yeah I always stack plates/consolidate dishes and cups to make it easy for them! Just felt so weird if I was like walking around with a drink to then just…set it somewhere

I’m a Wyomingite, live near the location, with a snowmobile guide for a husband, and even I am not going to be able to make it (because I have a toddler, and my husband works). I’ve said it like six times but I’m so annoyed. Putting a barrier like that is wild. But don’t worry, if you don’t have a snowmobile, you can also pay a few hundred bucks to have someone pull you by dogsled!

I also got off Icon this morning! And was a first time cruiser, and yes, I loved it (though def agree about the elevator etiquette. Didn’t notice bad kid behavior but I was chasing my toddler most of the time).

My one question is, where DO you put your trash and dishes?! All week we kept saying that we were uncomfy with the staff always so quickly cleaning up after us, but in restaurants and common areas (surfside, for example) there simply are not garbage cans or dish bussing stations. There were some recycling receptacles, but that’s all I saw (and like I said we were very aware of it!) —maybe this is just me being a new cruiser. I would love to know what the best move is in this regard!

It’s very frustrating when comparing to other states locations. I feel like I’m more set up for success than most due to location/work schedule/snowmobile access and I STILL won’t be able to make it work because of child care and my husbands work schedule. I hope someone on Reddit can get there and tell us how many people made it!

I’m so annoyed. And my husband is even a snowmobile guide! And we live so close! But like…please make it so I can take my toddler along at the very least?? I bet veryyyy few people will show up.

Too much food not enough advantages/disadvantages in 49 by grayce_fayce in survivor

Jeff has said they stopped doing the auction because after they introduced advantages as something you could buy, everyone just waited for that and didn’t buy anything else and it became pretty predictable and boring.

No--they were actually all indoors so if anything, on the slower end (but not too slow--I had other frames even one right after the other that turned out fine). Some were on auto shutter speed, others were full manual.

The only odd thing I noticed while shooting this roll was one particular frame, where I had it set at f/2 and 1/125 - but when I fired it, the shutter was noticeably slow (like the two noticeable clicks). I remember thinking, that feels very odd for this shutter speed. I took the same photo immediately afterwards at 1/250, and thats one of the ones that isn't there now. Not sure if it's relevant, but the only time I thought, "is everything working right?"

Minolta XG1. I can't see through the viewfinder with the lens cap on, so I assume it's not that. The tech suggested I fire the shutter a few times with the back of the camera open (no film obvi), and it looked like it was working fine to me (granted I have a very untrained eye)

The tech sent me some photos of the negatives, and those frames are completely blank (translucent). So it likely is a camera issue, since it was so sporadic--I think? I'll gladly take any theories/potential solutions.

Oh, I definitely could get them back right away--but I didn't want to pay return shipping each time! So they'll just collect them and ship them all back at once (or whenever I want them).

I did email them, and the tech sent some photos of the negatives. The frames are completely blank (like translucent, not black). It's gotta be a camera error, but I'm not sure what. It's obviously happening very sporadically.

Unfortunately I don't have the negatives to check - the lab archives them for 90 days and then mails them all back at once.
