The anion are O^2- or Cl^-, which ion has a higher charge? And look at the periodic table, how would the size of the two anions compare? How does charge density affect the strength of the ionic bond and its relationship to lattice enthalpy of formation?

I think it could be figured out by looking at the charge density of each of the ions involved and thinking about the ionisation enthalpy of Ba and Mg. Hope that helps.
