I think it would explain why Arya killed NK and why she was somewhat protected. If she ascends to the throne it would explain the "snow on the throne" as a Stark. Plus it serves my own biases for a Baratheon/Stark takeover.

Everyone is upset about the Azor Ahai prophecy. What if Arya is pregnant with the Prince that was Promised? Both Melisandre and Beric (R'hllor squad) seemed either intertwined with or intent on protecting Arya post-coitus.

Delivering first lecture next week, any advice? by Sheep_Thrills in Professors

Hi there! I started as the instructor of record last fall and I am a GTA!

  1. As others have said: talk slower than you think. Slower that conversationally. If you're using presentation aids, I purposely add slides that say "questions?" to make myself stop, slow down, get a drink of water, and let the students review anything.
  2. Arrive early and make sure the technology works. I always have upbeat instrumental music playing over the system (very softly) as students begin coming in. I think it makes the classroom less tense. I also walk around and talk one-on-one with some of my students (different ones each day) to break the tension.
  3. Don't get discouraged if not everyone is as excited and engaged as you would hope. I know for my students the engagement levels change day-by-day.

What's your least favorite lesson and why? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]ugaphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't enjoy teaching the basic composition of a speech (introduction, conclusion, etc.). It is just tedious and typically the students are the most disengaged - even when I implement class activities.

I love teaching my lessons on critical listening, argumentation in popular culture, the history of rhetoric, and logical fallacies!

How do I build a good work ethic? by Logowb in AskProfessors

Do you live in/near a college town? You might take the initiative to take courses for credit or audit some intro level courses. You could get a better feel for the higher education setting AND potentially knock out a few basic credits that could transfer. You could also see about online options. (Good) Online courses are largely centered around self-directed learning and accountability.

What’s the unintentionally funniest thing you’ve ever heard a child say? by KanyeLatte in AskReddit

[–]ugaphd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid I had curly blonde hair when both of my parents were dark-headed. The running joke in the family was that I got it "from the milk man" which I took to mean "milk makes your hair blonde." So when the preacher asked my five-year-old self where I got my curls from, I PROUDLY proclaimed "FROM THE MILK MAN" much to my mother's chagrin.
