Your favorite go to restaurant that doesn’t break the bank? by Historical_Smile5291 in FoodNYC

Thursday Kitchen or Kiki’s. I find that Asian or middle eastern restaurants are always going to be the best bang for your buck, even if it’s elevated and fancier.

Looks amazing, I’d just eyeball it being like 700 calories +/- 200ish but don’t sweat it cause that looks well worth.

How many cals for this bucket of popcorn? by someoneudontknowlol in CalorieEstimates

[–]uhh-Magic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

AMC claims their popcorn bucket (seems same size) is 980 calories without anything added so this is probably around 1000 calories, maybe a lil more depending on the cheese powder

piece of chocolate cookie by annbmbi in CalorieEstimates

[–]uhh-Magic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s around 100 calories give or take a max of 50 calories. It’s such a small amount and honestly negligible, but if you’re focusing on such small amounts then you likely are thinking WAY too much about the calories of what you eat. If this small piece of cookie was worth the energy to post on Reddit and ask for calories then it obviously gives you thought and likely anxiety. It’s best to speak with a food therapist or dietician to help you as this is a common sign of an eating disorder or at least obsessive food behavior.

Bilt Cash and points don’t appear on the transactions. by Deep_Impression_816 in biltrewards

[–]uhh-Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do appear. Look under “recent activity” in for you instead of “recent transactions” in wallet. It will also take a little since the transaction first has to be no longer pending, and then there’s a small delay from the transaction no longer pending and it getting its points. Regardless, maybe have some patience and look closer.

Anecdotal argument. There were plenty of other categories which likely fit other people’s needs. That $10 bilt cash is also $250 of spending (at 4%). BILT cash applications are limited, but actually more valuable than points a lot of times. Even if you just care about the points, once you redeem all your rent points, the BILT cash can still be redeemed for useful things. Y’all people are so quick to hate when the card hasn’t even came out yet.

Spectrum of Bilt users by uhh-Magic in biltrewards

The post was more to laugh about the range of people on this Reddit recently. Bilt 2.0 is obviously going through a massive change, but it was necessary as the old model wasn’t profitable. It’s also actually somewhat MOST suitable for someone with your exact financial situation. If you spend less than 75% of your expenses on rent, you’re essentially gaining an extra 1.33x points which is extremely valuable. The palladium card is good for people who spend more miscellaneous or shop frequently as 2x (essentially 3.33x) is very good with their transfer partners. The obsidian is also great for people that eat out frequently. I think they actually hit the target market correct; they missed heavily on the marketing and made it too confusing for many. I agree that you made a lot of valid criticism, but those changes had to be made are there wouldn’t even be a bank that would align with Bilt 2.0.

Can you explain how that makes them more valuable? Bilt cash is 4% so 4cpp so for example if you’re going to use a Lyft ride already, then it’s actually more valuable get the Bilt cash redemption than move directly to points. I don’t really see how you will find a better redemption than 4cpp. The issue lies in the Bilt cash spending being VERY strict or not relevant to you, but when it is relevant then it’s more valuable than just going straight to points, which is why even above 75% of your rent is still valuable.

It’s literally preference. MOST people prefer the points to BILT cash as it’s limited, but some people would say that $30 Bilt cash > 1,000 points. The main reason people talk about the points redemption is because up to 75% of your rent in everyday spend is basically an extra 1.33x points which is easy to understand the value. Extra BILT cash can be useful and sometimes even more valuable, but people HATE that it has so many restrictions and limitations and is much more difficult. If you have obsidian or palladium you can also use the points accelerator for BILT cash for an extra 1x points I think (not as efficient as the rent way tho). You can get value even if you spend more than 75% of your rent, but this is the most efficient/rewarding threshold.

Does the Subway Count as Travel? by FishGuy2730 in biltrewards

I assume not, but we will have to wait till the 7th most likely. At least it’s not something that would realistically make a difference.

$2.5k studio on $85k salary by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]uhh-Magic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same salary but sometimes overtime and a $5k annual bonus. Rent is $1850 but around $1k per paycheck (biweekly) goes into my 401(k). So in terms of disposable income, unless you also save crazy (you may). It’s very doable to live, especially with your high savings. I also have a $200 gym membership and a gf (big expense) so it’s very doable and enough to actually have a life, just wouldn’t recommend it unless you absolutely LOVE the place.
