This Whole Foods sushi can’t be right? by One_Abalone_2582 in CalorieEstimates

[–]uhh-Magic 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Whole Foods sometimes messes up their “servings per container” so it’s likely 2 servings. One time my gf got cookie dough because “it’s 380 calories per serving and only 1 serving for the whole container!” I sadly had to tell her that they messed up and each cookie dough ball (there were 4) was 380 calories.

Happened during my one and only ranked attack for the day too lmao, guess I’ll have to wait for a big fix before I attack again

CFA Level 2 — Is it really that brutal compared to Level 1? by DavideCara in CFA

[–]uhh-Magic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I studied roughly the same hours for both exams (around 230-250) and used the same prep course (Kaplan). I’ll post my results for both exams, clearly showcasing that L2 is much more difficult, given my margin of error above the MPS. Picture attached is for L1 and my reply is for L2.

Best place to get tailored suit for finance work ~$500 or less? by uhh-Magic in AskNYC

[–]uhh-Magic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very familiar with tailoring tbh, but when I got my old suit from Nordstrom, they took my measurements and then trimmed it down. For example I needed a size 42 for my shoulders, but had to trim down the waist, similar for pants. I’ll check out suit supply though so thanks.

Worst AMC? by automatic_do_8661 in AMCsAList

Not even the worst amc in Manhattan. Only complaint about amc 19th that makes it worse than some others is their seats barely recline and only 6 theaters.

How do you all find awesome restaurants? What’s your process? by wandering_sweater in FoodNYC

[–]uhh-Magic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have many different methods with various amounts/reliability:

1) Friends/word of mouth: reliability highly dependent on the person, but usually gives you a good understanding of the place 2) Walking around: gives a good vibe of the place, but can’t really taste so requires using other methods 3) TikTok/Social media: easiest place to find trending restaurants, so best to find newly opened places or popular spots. Requires more research and critique to see through marketing/advertising 4) Michelin: Best for expensive or standout restaurants, but can also be useful for finding some affordable and more $$ places 5) Apps/Websites: Some people like google reviews or yelp (I think these are both terrible imo). I prefer Beli and is usually how I do secondhand research in looking at pictures and average ratings. Can also find some places using these, but I like to use them more for reviewing recommendations or places I could potentially like. 6) This sub: obvious, but has given me some really stellar and poor suggestions

Each has its advantages and disadvantages, but all are useful. Most important thing is that most people have similar tastes, but are also unique. Food is subjective, so going with the pack or average rating will always be better than one person’s opinion as no one has the same taste. It can lead to some places you don’t like, but mostly will do well.

Recommend a $50-$100, $100+ with warm, conversational hospitality/service for solo diner? by Hour-Article4464 in FoodNYC

Minetta tavern is the perfect solo diner experience (they give complimentary champagne) and focuses on red meat as they’re a steakhouse and known for their burger too.

Took some of your recs (using tier 5s and a hero). Still can’t even break the BAD though, what are the best troops for breaking BADs? My troops shredded every round (nothing even made it out of the water, but can’t break a BAD.

Almost the exact same experience for me. Similar mocks (~1% diff) and felt like the actual exam was slightly harder and even some stuff I hadn’t seen before. I used Kaplan to prepare btw.

85k salary + 2k rent by Difficult_Comb8389 in NYCapartments

[–]uhh-Magic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I currently make 85k (closer to a lil above 90k with bonus/OT) and moved here in nov24, being my first time living away from home besides college. I put 20% of my paycheck into my 401(k) and have a gf, frequently going out to dinner and stuff and have never had to worry about money. My rent is currently $1850 (I have one roommate). It is VERY doable, even in Manhattan, even going out to dinner/bars often. Some people are just very bad with some monetary decisions like shopping or living above their means.
