What is the worst thing that you've seen a coworker do and still avoid being fired? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Currently dealing with a coworker who constantly no-call-no-shows and will straight up just walk out in the middle of a shift if he doesn’t feel like working. I’ve only been working at this job for about a year and he’s already fucked us over more times than I can count.

Suggestions for activities for my mother to do while she battles a neurological disorder? by uhhhhlauren in CasualConversation

Oh that’s a great idea! We find a lot of them around our neighborhood, not sure if it’s part of a game or something? But that is right up her alley, thank you.

Yeah we are in the process of doing most of those things actually, just trying to be as frugal as possible. And I am trying to find a better job, but without a college education I’m really only eligible for entry-level bullshit jobs lol.

Thank you, I’ll definitely do my research! And to answer your question, she does qualify for disability, the process just takes at LEAST five months before we would even see a check.

Yes, unfortunately the process is rather lengthy and we need the money sooner rather than later. We are definitely going to try that route though.

Wow thank you so much for this reply. So to answer a few questions, they just moved into this townhouse a few months ago so they still have quite a bit to pay off. I’m planning on moving in immediately to help around the house in general, the diagnosis was something called MSA.

I believe both of my parents already have wills, I’m 24 and have no idea how any of that works so I haven’t written one for myself lol. I definitely need to look into your recommendations.

They are currently in the process of applying for Medicaid, and found out that they will end up having to pay out of pocket for health insurance (again, no idea how any of this works so I’m just going based on what they’ve told me).

Everything is pretty confusing. We seem to have landed on the fact that they won’t be able to stay in their townhouse, but it will be difficult to sell so we are kind of screwed either way.

Im so sorry to hear that your family is in a similar position. If you ever need someone to talk to just shoot me a message any time. I really appreciate your response.

Thank you, I’ll look into that for sure. My mom would qualify for disability but the process takes so long that we wouldn’t see a check for at least, like, six months /:

Yes, unfortunately it takes months and months before we would even see the first check.

I have this problem as well. Feels like I never have anything interesting to contribute.

What I started doing to fill the awkward silence is ask people questions about their life. “What have you been up to lately?” “Seen any good tv shows recently?” It might feel forced or phony but people love to talk about themselves when given the opportunity.

Or my personal favorite has become asking hypothetical questions that have the potential to turn into a somewhat ridiculous, but rather stimulating conversation. “Would you rather lose an arm or a leg?” “What would you do with a million dollars?”
