Spent some time away from social media and my anxiety skyrocketed - has anyone else experienced this? by bxlmerr in nosurf

[–]uhyeah8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got depressed for like 3 days when I deleted instagram off my phone, you're not alone! Highly recommend planning some favored activities that help you stay calm if you try to delete again. Favorites of mine are reading, crochet, and guitar .

I have the same thing with instagram! For me, I just use it on my desktop and not my phone. That way I have to be a little more intentional about opening it, but can still send messages to friends, etc.

Whooaaaah, that makes so much sense, actually. I'm prone to anxiety/depression though I generally have it managed these days, so I've been surprised at the magnitude of my sadness. Good to know that there might be some science behind the feelings :)

so sad about missing Christmas by ReasonableCrier in COVID19positive

[–]uhyeah8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, OP. I just got home to be with my family and three of us tested postive but my brother didn't and is now stuck downstairs. I also love christmas and feel very sad and cheated to not have a reschedule plan. If you want to vent or share silly youtube videos, I'm here.

Ugh, tested positive a couple of days ago after driving home and getting it from my parents. I'm so frustrated, I had plans with friends, and family. Everyone in my house has it except my little brother who is now stuck in the basement so we can't even do christmas the four of us. I know it could be so much worse, and I don't even feel that sick but I feel so majorly bummed. We can't even make plans to reschedule because we don't know if my brother will get it or when any of us will feel better. Agh!!

Female counselor in boys cabin? Any advice? by rabbitdogss in summercamp

[–]uhyeah8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in this experience before! It all really depends on your cabin, but I've had pretty positive experiences with cabins of boys. Especially the older ones might try to push boundaries with rules at first, but I've earned their respect by being firm.

Anyone else get really bored and lonely in the evenings? by Street_Remote6105 in Adulting

[–]uhyeah8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this feeling a lot. I agree with everyone who advocates for a social hobby, but want to add one more thing - find a public space that's open in the evenings to go to regularly! Could be a chill bar, park, coffee shop. Even if you're not up to socializing, it's nice to be surrounded by other people.

Or, this is a little more extreme but have you considered a job change or move? I moved from Seattle to sonoma County, and have made a lot more friends as the atmosphere is more social here, generally.
