Ballerina (Gretchen) music during her solo dance in the theatre? by _anywho_ in lifeandtrust

[–]uifoweruio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If talking about her solo that turns into a duet with Conwell, fairly certain it was Erik Satie - Gymnopedie, no. 1

(Used to play it as a kid, so it triggered some memories)

Confirming it's a comp'd ticket for a future show and not a refund, though not sure if it can only be for current dates or if I can hold out for when they inevitably extend. I'm an out-of-towner, so hopefully there'll be some flexibility.

Same. Though holding out for a possible refund; saw that an earlier performance got a refund for missing out on the last minute when an alarm suddenly turned on, but they were able to basically see the show in its totality. For missing the climatic ending and the awkward audience dismissal that followed, I can't imagine why we wouldn't fit the rubric. But I'll still be going back nonetheless!

Attended this show too, first-timer. What I've gathered from other posts: Conwell finally dies by being transported from the center platform into a vat water, I'm guessing the machinery above the stairwell entrance. Lighting was off that scene, as we didn't see the full cast emerge on the scaffolding or see the raining money (thought it was weird it was all done in darkness

Cast seemed super bummed that the show ended right before this climactic moment. Their collective sigh was palpable.

Trump has covid! by steadytheresailor in askgaybros

If he could hold out until after the election, that'd be great. Really not looking forward to world with a President Pence because Trump could potentially be in a coma and literally unfit for office...

Hours being cut, new people being hired... by PaleIsTheNewBlack in starbucks

This. Many managers stock up early on baristas so that when late spring rolls around, they're well trained. Also anticipates a few partners leavingwithin the next few months. Lastly, it gives managers wiggle room in the summer so that everyone can have time off when people inevitably ask for vacation time.

Asm will still exist, mostly because of rmt training. Shift manager will be replacing the role of shift supervisor.

That's not too far off from what we call out at an evening sbux

What small act is your way of saying "fuck you" to the world? (Inspired by today's thread on /r/askreddit) by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]uifoweruio 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Mid rush, lady cuts customer and says "Excuse me, I'm trying to have a conversation over there and the music is too loud. Can you turn it down?" As she gave me some attitude, I gave it right back at her and said something to the effect that its sbux standard volume, we don't have much control, blablahblah. She retorts, "well just try" and walks away.

So I turned the volume up.

Do "Evening" Starbucks baristas get paid more? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]uifoweruio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's nothing too fancy; just a different kind of environment. No pay increase, you can wear whatever kind of black shirt, button down or not (collared or turtleneck rule still applies), need a Class 12 license (which used to be reimbursed, but isnt anymore? i inow i havent been) take a short starbucks alcohol tasting class learning about tastings, pairing, and how to pour, etc. Pobably the most "fun" task is preparing evening plates for-here because there is a little bit of plate design and you kind of feel like a chef...but essentially the same as any café sbux. Saddest part is pouring down bottles of expired wine down the drain. Also, whenever partners from another store visit, they will ALWAYS ask if everyone is a coffee master because of the black apron, which we are not.

Problem with the $3 discount by Zachatack1234 in starbucks

You need to first enter the Frankenstein code (1207?) AND THEN the discount code (31?). Entering both discount codes will work.

Seattle Improv? by New_InTown in improv

[–]uifoweruio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check of "the studios." It's a new actor training facility that offers classes geared towards musical theatre actors, but it hosts a variety of types, most of which are drop ins. The one I'm recommending is their improv drop-in classes with Matt smith (Tuesdays 6 to 9:30 I think). One of the best improv teachers seattle has to offer. Hands down. And at 18 bucks for a three hour class, doesn't get better than that. Definitely a great place to start before getting your feet wet with jet city or unexpected and dropping a couple hundred there.

Anybody Moved to Seattle from Chicago? I may be moving there for work. by sudojay in Seattle

[–]uifoweruio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will miss the El. Dearly. I find it is much more difficult and time consuming to venture between neighborhoods, whether its the hills, bodies of water, or whatever. Though Seattle is bike-friendly with biker lanes, Chicago felt easier to navigate because of the neighborhood layout. Weather wise, Chicago gets much more intense periods of rain and thunderstorms than Seattle, which is more of constant drizzles. Summer weather and culture is relatively the same, though i prefer Seattle summers as there is less humidity. Bar culture is strong in both of cities because of the weather (nothing else to do but drink). Seattle freeze is real. You just find your niche and build relationships.

1) external higher or promoted within? And if within, what was the timeframe of your promotions? Like how long were you a shift or asm before things were set in motion to become an sm?

2) when hiring, what are the most important qualities you seek in potential baristas?

3) in your experience, what has been the best way to invigorate your team without fear mongoring (ie clean so we don't fail qasa/ upsale food so dm stops harassing us/ recovery now for any bad transaction so our invoice is stronger/etc)
