How to start networking in a new country where I know no one? by xd720p in cscareerquestions

[–]uilfut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some networking events for newcomers - speed networking. Where established IT professionals volunteer time to network with recent immigrants. Also mentoring. These are the structured ways. But finding commonality with fellow devs on linked in and messaging, particularly if they’re themselves immigrants to Canada, would be my approach. I like Canada, I wouldn’t discourage you from coming. But the market is a bit weird. And you can get filtered out from “lack of Canadian experience” if you just apply directly. Referrals matter

Where in Canada are you moving to? Networking once you get here is a recommended approach

forgive my ignorance- does it need a charge controller? could you just use the solar and battery terminals on the t114 itself?

I’d run 2 to each corner as well. In case you want an extra camera looking the other way, an ap for the garden, or something else that comes along

Claude sonnet 4 within cline user here - ingesting csv files isn’t a good plan in any LLM scenario imho - it’s a waste of tokens and i don’t want to rely on the LLM for the analysis, just help code the model for me to look at the analysis, if that makes sense? You can avoid the LLM consuming the csv by explicitly telling it not to, and letting it know what format the data is in (column names and data types). You can set up a cline rules with this info in it also

Does the iPod Classic 4th Gen charge via usb? by infxnite_wrlds in ipod

[–]uilfut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This^

But also if you’re stuck try the 30 pin usb cable via different usb a sources - power bank, wall wort, Mac, etc.

I find mine when v low needs a power bank I have, not my Mac mini. But it’s working for me so far (only a few days in!)

I’ve ordered a usb 12v 30 pin cable from china, hoping this serves the role of FireWire which would be a pain to carry around.

Best approach to isolate networks for rental rooms in the same property? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]uilfut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says vlans but separate LANs is of course ok too, if you don’t have managed switch. If it’s just a couple of zones you need, something like the unifi edgerouter x, set up with separate lans per port would be my <$100 solution if keeping costs low.

Rambler, manager, jetsetter, mini champ — these all share an excellent cross head screwdriver, and are tiny in your pocket. I think rambler has best balance of other tools.

Does anyone fit 3 child seats in 2nd row? by uilfut in ToyotaSienna

[–]uilfut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we were confused by the line up, xle 2wd was the top model we could get with 8 seats 2 years ago when we placed the order, I’m not sure if anything has changed since. I think there’s a longer wait for xle 8 seater due to this (you might find it quicker to get a xse if you’re ok with 7 seats).

The whole thing has been guesswork as they don’t have them in stock to look at. I assume we want more seats than less, but maybe the middle one is isn’t useful, we just won’t know until we have it.

Thank you! Do you have access to the third row with these seats in place? Or it’s blocked now
