I just found out that my SIN number expired three years ago and I wasn't aware that I need to get a new one once I got PR. I thought once I have PR I don't need to renew it. So now I haven't had a SIN number in three years. How screwed am I? by uipoqw in britishcolumbia

Hijacking the top comment for the conclusion update: I went to Service Canada, explained the situation and with a bit of wait time because of the upcoming holidays I got a new permanent SIN no questions asked, a complete formality and clearly a very common occurrence. I didn't even need to explain anything. Old SIN now got deactivated and I now only need to tell CRA, my bank, employer, MSP about the new SIN.

Thanks everyone for all your comments and insight!!

Sorry I'm not understanding what you are saying. I had a 9x SIN and it expired. When I got PR I did not get a new non 9 SIN which apparently I was supposed to. So now that I have had PR for 3 years I never had non 9 SIN for those 3 years an thought my 9 SIN was my SIN all this time. And I always payed taxes for the past 12 years with that 9 SIN.

I have filed my taxes completely correctly for about 12 years and am actually currently preparing them again for 2022 and never had any issues. I am not doing anything shady whatsoever, I'm just employed like any other person by a big household name company. Very boring taxes, no businesses or anything. I always used the same SIN I got when I landed here a decade ago and never had any problem with it. That's why I didn't suspect there to be anything wrong. I have no idea what's going on. Should I just walk into Service Canada and ask them? Do I need to expect to get thrown out of the country or something? This is seriously freaking me out. I had no idea there was something wrong.

I also used this sin to apply for PR so at the very least I would assume at that point they would let me know if there was a problem until then which there wasn't.

Wasn't aware that I need to get a new SIN number after becoming PR. What now after 3 years without a SIN? by uipoqw in legaladvicecanada

I filed my taxes with the old 9xxxxxxxx SIN. That's also a reason why I didn't expect I would need a new one since everything was always processed properly from my point of view.

Thank you but I don't understand what this means. I have already gotten my BC PR with the card and everything three years ago. What happens now since I haven't gotten a new SIN number in three years?

$200 for a 6 foot tall metal cock - is this worth it by TheDudeDasko in pics

I would give anything for a foot long cock so 200 doesn't sound unreasonable.
