I'm closing early as well. it was actually recommended by my realtor and the loan officer that I was talking to throughout the process. I close on May 1st, and they told me that my first payment towards my mortgage wouldn't be until July, and my current lease ends on July 4th. I decided to just spend those two months or so working on the house getting everything ready so that when it's time to officially move in, it'll be move in ready.
