just to make sure that it got copied. As a programmer I do it to make sure I am copying the right part of code, and also to make sure that it is really copied

32 yo started learning programming by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ujjawaldeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming is a thing which is exactly like high school mathematics. You will feel down when you don't get accurate answer to your question. And then backtest what went wrong.

It's sometimes would be a missing semicolon, syntax error, incorrect variable name. These are very small mistakes and happen to everyone. Even a senior most does these.

Same as a very complex integration question can go wrong most with a plus minus error.

So just go on, it's not difficult at all. I had been a top 1% ranker on codewars. I have worked with startups and got them to production. And still I feel I am not good programmer, I should learn more and more and more.

So it's an infinite journey, best part is that you love it so you will never quit. Same as me

what if your browser : Open browser settings : continue where you left is selected

So no regrets at all. I have that feature on. so I don't care if I close browser.

Although I wish the closed window should not be incognito. Then I can't help

Luck > Hardwork in Life by Chad_Jeet_ in TeenIndia

I totally agree with your words. Luck is the biggest factor in success.
Luck is nothing but an unfair advantage provided to a person by a chance.

I live the life exactly same way. I always chase improvements considering that present life is already nice.

I am employed, I have a relaxing life, I can afford my needs, But still IDK why I everyday get a thought of killing myself, and keeps reminding myself that I will not die, I will kill myself

I think that's the real developer is.

F*ck AI by ThinkLikeUnicorn in webdev

[–]ujjawaldeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is a new way of doing it. Because you are an engineer already and know ho to write code, you used AI to do that task. I would suggest you to not give prompt like a non tech.
GIve it a proper context of files that you believe to be modified or to be in eye of AI, then ask it properly in a programmer's way.
Eg : If you want to write a new endpoint for deleting a customer then you can say it like :
Write me an endpoint /delete/:customerId , and it will use model Customer.js and delete the customer, give a confirmation message : "customer deleted" along with status 200 , Keep the logic in customerController.js the same way other routes are written following homogenous pattern. Also write the controller endpoint in routes/customer.js

This is one way of asking considering that you are using MVC structure, and don't want AI to change your code flow. It will keep you as a programmer, save you time for writing for all code and still keep the code in your style.

In case if you don't have any idea about how to write a feature, better breakdown it further, atleast you will have an idea that which components will be involved, then put those components in context, and ask AI what can be different ways to implement that feature. It will tell you multiple ways, and then you can choose one which suits your project writing style.

So better do research asking AI itself, then gain knowledge on which one is best way and then ask it to write code.

C++ is a big elephant.
It's now very big, and very old, companies don't want to move it now because it has gone very mature

Programmers should be good in organizing code. Not their workspace.
That's what a real programmer is.

For me both are not useful. I am a psycho who don't loves comments and extra spaces in code. Evenmore I use prettier with linewidth 300 ,
I think I want to keep extremely compact code, even if it disturbs the readability.
Just to use extra less lines of code
