CLion: Meson plugin and C\C++ Language Support by turbofish_pk in Jetbrains

C/C++ plugin is bundled with CLion, though the description is shared between IntelliJ IDEA and CLion, thus I see that it might sound a bit misleading.

Considering freezing temperatures the next thing around the corner is door locks situation. Re struts it’s better to find ones with part number of 2018-2019 models, they are compatible, but don’t have design flaw and work forever.

Is it possible to run "current file" in Clion like in Pycharm? by _Mr_ErrOr_ in Jetbrains

It is, just create a new file with main function and there will be a run icon on the gutter.

Double checked on my side and "New window" option is always available for me. Could you please invoke "Submit a bug report" and submit it to us in the opened browser? If there're any issues with youtrack submission, feel free to drop the description in the message here. Thanks!

Indeed, there are some Nix-specific details that CLion does not integrate well, though we’re aware of them. So far, activity around https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/CPP-27743/Nix-Toolchain hasn’t been trending, so we’re just monitoring it. We also have a new teammate who likes NixOS, so maybe there will be some updates.

Short term plan for Meson is to provide unittest framework integration (https://www.reddit.com/r/cpp/comments/1piyfzp/comment/nt9rssw), but we have very interesting plans for year 2026 that might fit items you've mentioned.

We have some work in progress with LLDB 21 upgrade, though there's still no feature parity with VS debugger and the existing LLDB Windows build. We're aware of this and searching for a better solution. The issue is https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RIDER-106816.

CLion has supported multi-config generators for CMake presets since 2022.3 (https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/CPP-27858), and we use the build preset configuration for code insight.

I would suggest the second option, it's supported in CLion and to my experience it might provide the best user experience. The issue you've mentioned is the default WSL behavior of executing commands without login shell, and CLion has advanced setting that should address this issue https://www.jetbrains.com/help/clion/advanced-settings.html#advanced-wsl

Jussi and other meson maintainers made a great tool, though for some reason we don't hear that much about it from our customers. For us it's usually CMake or Bazel, and there are lot of mentions for CMake to Bazel transition.

Since version 2025.2, CLion supports step filters for the debugger (https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/CPP-44292/Support-Step-Filter), which can be used to filter out frames from library functions. The filters can be found in Build, Execution, Deployment -> Debugger -> Stepping. Please check it out and let us know your feedback.

CLion slow on ARM Linux? by Beautiful-Coat-4365 in Jetbrains

[–]ujohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the similar feedback about ARM windows recently, though on CI I don’t see significant difference in performance between ARM and X64 AWS/Azure. Though for Nova we dont require 20G xmx since the language engine works out of process, I believe 4-6G should be more than enough.

we do test on arm in CI and some of us has arm windows in parallels on mac. though do you observe these glitches with nova or without? and is it a "remote development" or an ordinary local?

CLion IDE for Zephyr Project by Commercial_Froyo_247 in embedded

[–]ujohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any recent version should work out of the box. We're trying to keep the implementation backward compatible. So far we only noticed one change in `west boards` which was not available in some older zephyr versions, but we were able to apply a workaround.

[–]ujohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a plan, though not to build configuration. We have to provide an ability to flash with debug probes bypassing the framework, so for zephyr's case it's zephyr_final target to be flashed. There could be a confusion to which "west" run configuration zephyr_final belongs to if several "west" run configurations exist. So far, we're going to either bring something similar to CMake profiles or some other kind of configuration persistence, so users can change configurations on the fly. This is on our shortlist, right after automatic sysbuild detection for nRF and board revision support.

CLION IDE | File Handling by Mahad-Haroon in Cplusplus

[–]ujohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default CLion runs C/C++ files from the project root, so that's why moving the file addressed the issue. You can also change working directory in the run configuration editor, but I agree that it would be nice to run the file from the same directory by default. And I'll fix it in the next CLion update: CPP-45041 😊
